my little studio...

2011

New Year.

New Project List.
(added on to the remnants of the old)

I spent a lot of time this past weekend organizing my little studio (yes, that is the new name for my craft room).  Over the holidays between decorating this, making that or wrapping it all up, this room turned into a catch all for anything and everything.  So before I could start any new projects I needed to do a major clean up and purge.  As I mentioned last week, most of the pinks and roses have disappeared from my nest.  The new vignettes I have been working on are reflecting my new color palette.  I finally realized that shabby does not necessarily mean everything should be pink or be adorned with roses.  I ended up with a pile for the shop and a pile for my Etsy shop (which I hope to list today).  Now my changes are not drastic.  I simply used things I already had around my house and moved them from one room to another.  I know I shared this corner with you before in this post and this one but here is what it looks like now...
I seem to put pieces in this corner that are either favorite treasures (of the moment) or things that inspire me.  This painting is always there.  It was my Mom's and I am not sure if I told you this before but as a child I would look at it and pretend it was my Mom and her sister...
While taking these pictures I realized that this painting holds some of the colors I always seem to go back to time and time again...
I have my old cubby drawer back in my studio...
Along with the clock from my Paris Hotel Suite...

As you can see I did not get rid of pink and roses completely!  These next two pieces have similar coloring...
And both have great detail.  One is new...
And one is old...

Sweet little bird on the branch...just looks like it flew right into it though!  I love the contrast of the little old wood box against the white.  It is holding one of the projects I am working on ~ my petite paper mache dress forms (I just sold a few in my Etsy shop and want to put more in)...

Also working on some pieces using left over lamp parts and clock faces from The Graphics Fairy...
Just above on the shelf is my favorite vignette...
It is a bit Hollywood with one of Freddie's Girls who dreams of going to Paris some day...
Along with my old brownie camera (I think that is what it is called) and maybe a dried up flower from one of her admirer's bouquet (do you ever make up stories to go along with your vignettes?)...
I recently got the "63" little enamel tag off Etsy for the year I was born.  Also one of my old embellished wood shoes adorned with a vintage buckle (which I am starting a collection of)...
Now I love the colors of these old bottles.  The etched glass used to be in my Paris Hotel Suite too...
I have another little vignette to share too but I am going to save it for White Wednesday.  Today I am joining Susan from Between Naps on the Porch for Metamorphosis Monday where you can always find some wonderful, inspiring bloggers sharing their before and afters.  I am so happy you are here with me in the new year!  I am energized and inspired to create and explore new venues and ready to share with it all with you!

Hi Sandi,
Must be something in the air! I am going to start cleaning and purging as well. I just got my Christmas decor taken down today and most of it is finally put away. We have been on the run since Christmas and this was my first opportunity to do it.
Love your vignette! So pretty!
Blessings~

I love your room. The vignettes are lovely. Cleaning is the order of the day with me. Does that happen to everyone after Christmas?
Have a great day

Sandi, You are so talented! I wish
I could arrange things half as nice
as you! I wanted you to know I
put a picture of my wooden architectural piece from your Etsy store on the Flora Doora blog. I simply love it! Take a look when you have time.

What a wonderful little studio you have created for yourself, Sandi. Your vignette is lovely..I love it! You are a talented lady and it shows in all you do.
I go thorough
those "transformations" from time to time...from absence of color...back to color again. I am somewhere in between right now...and my daughter and I are still talking of opening a shop of sorts this Spring.

There's a lot of decluttering going on out here in blogland, Sandi! :) I'm really inspired now! And now I want to make my "office" into a "studio"!!!! Love that! I used to have pink and roses in my decor too. Everything was shabby chic and sweet. As the years went by and as I continued to pour over decor mags and then blogging....my style changed. Alot less pink and flowery and more neutral and sophisticated. It just seemed calmer to me. Beautiful job on your studio, sweetie!

Your little studio looks wonderful. You have some beautiful vignettes. I wish I had been as productive in my studio. I started on it yesterday and I think it looks worse then when I started!
Have a great week.

I loved seeing your studio and you are soooo right. Shabby is not about pink roses...That is just a small part of it. I see too much shabby that is way overdone pink. It's actually a comfy, overstuffed, casual feel and not overdone at all. Lots of cream and white. I am purging my "studio" too. I need to really pare down. I actually went "shopping" in my studio today and took some things out of the shop and put them in my home. LOL...what fun! xoxo
