thanks for the memories...

I remember spending summers with my Nana on the cape.
I couldn't wait 'til that last bell rang in June.
She would make breakfast every day with a smile.
Every sunny day spent was spent on the beach with friends.
Rainy days were always fun filled too.
With the beach in walking distance I would go home every day for lunch and fill my Nana in on all the fun so far that day.
Light dinners included BLTs (with extra bacon) or "your Mom isn't here till the weekend so let's have ice cream instead"!
Each night she would perfectly iron my outfits for those "summer nights".
Meeting up with my girlfriends and the cute boys (one of which I married).
Running home to make curfew.
And at night I would write letters on the summer porch (where I slept) to my friends at home, telling them what they are missing and wish they were there.

Those were the memories that hit me today when I spied this vintage mailbox at the shop...

Thanks Nana for all those summers on the cape and all the wonderful memories...miss you.
Thanks to Karen K. too for having this treasure in her booth that brought me back to the good ol' days!

that special something...

You know when you see something...

That special something that has beautiful chippy details and lots of perfect imperfections...

And you finally realize it belongs with you and you bring it home...

And then it inspires you to want to do a whole room over?
That is just what happened to me.
Oh, and peeking at everyone's beautiful, creative spaces that are being shared for Where Women Create 2012.

Maybe next year I will have my own space ready to share.
Maybe.

I am sharing with Kathleen at Faded Charm for
and with Debra at Common Ground for

I am also going to try and post this on my new Facebook page.
Wish me luck!

Thanks for visiting!

pale gray and white...

I picked up this old nightstand last month at a local thrift shop...

Here it is now after a few coats of white...

You can't tell in the photo but I painted the knobs a pale gray...

I also used pale gray and white to make a starfish flag on some vintage bead board...

I brought both these pieces in the shop yesterday.

I work with Louise on Tuesdays and look at this wonderful old double sided sign she brought in yesterday...

Speaking of the shop...you can find the Wrentham Country Store on Facebook now!

I am new to Facebook so bear with me!

Today I am joining Kathleen for White Wednesday.
Thank you Kathleen for hosting and thank you for stopping by!

christmas in july...

While I was nestled away in the pines of Plymouth last week enjoying some r and r, I squeezed in a junkin' day.
I found some wonderful treasures that I am saving.
Not for a rainy day.
And, unfortunately, not for myself either.
I am saving them for an upcoming event at the shop.
Ssshhh, don't tell anyone yet!

I will show you some things I am saving for my Christmas displays.
(No, this is not the upcoming event.)
I know, who wants to think of Christmas in July?
But, when I find something that reminds me of the holidays and the price is right, I buy it...

I just loved the old green tins with their hints of red...

I can wait for the visions of sugarplums but the vintage holiday vignettes are dancing in my head...

One find that I am bringing in the shop tomorrow is this sweet old farmhouse curio cabinet...

It is handmade and perfectly imperfect...

I am bringing some other pieces in tomorrow as well.
One is a makeover piece and one is a piece I made.
I am saving them for White Wednesday so I hope to see you then!

Today I am sharing with Linda for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday over at Coastal Charm.
I have not joined in over there for a while so I am off to see what's going on!

heaven's walk...

One of my duties as Creative Director of the Wrentham Country Store is taking care of the shop's website.
I created a Blog Love page to share some of my fellow Shop Girl's blogs as well as choosing a Blog of the Month to share with our customers.
I warned them that blogging can be very addicting!

To be, blogging and treasure hunting go hand in hand.  Through blogging, I have discovered creative ways to use vintage finds and am inspired and challenged to recycle and reuse treasures from the past so that they can be enjoyed for years to come.

This month I chose Laurie's beautiful blog,
Heaven's Walk and she has graciously let me share her photos on the website and here on my little blog as well...

Thank you Laurie.
Your posts are so inspiring and lovely and I always leave feeling like I have just physically visited your home (and can't wait to go back)...

Thank you for letting me share your little piece of heaven with our customers and friends.
Oh, and thank you as well for giving me so many opportunities to pin...

Thank you for stopping by!

enjoying a little r and r...

I brought some of my hydrangeas from home to my campground while I am enjoying a little r and r.
I have a bouquet inside and one on my screen porch...

I am hosting my annual night before the fourth cocktail party this evening before we all head down to the bonfire on the lake.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that my whole family will be together tonight (my adult family of four!).
Thank you all for the birthday wishes for Jake!

Wishing you all a safe and happy Fourth of July...

Thank you for visiting!
