advent calendar...

With our Holiday Open House starting this Saturday at the shop, I wanted to make another Advent calendar for it.
You may remember this one I sold a few weeks ago...
photo from Sandy Foster

I used a vintage frame that I found treasure hunting and Jim added some old beadboard to the back.  I painted the whole thing white.  Instead of tea staining the tags I left them white and started to fill in the days...

I used little treasures I have saved over the years like this skate my Nana knitted for the tree when I was little...

An old crystal prism that was my Mom's...

A few saved trinkets that I received from friends...

I wanted to keep it mostly white with hints of silver...

and a little bling...

But couldn't resist adding a little pop of color...

It brought me joy to make this...

...so I just can't part with it!
Merry Christmas to me!

I already hung it up in the den...

I think it has a Jeanne d'Arc feel to it ~ I love it!

Not to worry though...I made one very similar to the one I sold for myself last year, so that one is going into the shop and I made another for one of my fellow shop girls too.

I am joining Becky at Timewashed for Blissful Whites Wednesday as well as Jennifer Rizzo for her Fabulously Creative Friday.
Thank you for hosting Becky and Jennifer!

road trip find...

Popping in this morning to share one of my New Hampshire road trip finds...

Once I saw this vintage framed chalkboard I knew I had to have it.
I am trying to put together a different backdrop at the top of my stairs to greet friends and family over the holidays this year.
I added an old architectural piece over it...

I'll be decking the halls this weekend but for now I am going to go back to enjoying my son's company this morning...

See Jake in the mirror?

So happy that my family is all home!

Thank you for stopping by.
I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving...enjoy!

new hampshire road trip...

Thelma and Louise.
That's what we were called as Mary Ellen and I headed off to New Hampshire last Friday.  The day was filled with a few missed turns, lots of laughs and vignettes full of inspiration.
One of our stops was Twin Elm Farm and I took a few photos to share with you...

This was one of my favorite vignettes.  I loved the simplicity of the greens...

Enjoy browsing...

Thought of you Vickie when I saw this cute truck!

There were so many treasures ~ I really had to restrain myself...

But I did bring home a few treasures that I will share soon...

I hope you enjoyed my little tour of Twin Elm Farm!
Did it inspire you to take a treasure hunting road trip?

Thank you for stopping by today, have a wonderful week!!

pillows...

When I saw this post from Kate a few weeks ago, I fell in love with her linen cross pillow cover.
I rushed right over to Sweet Tea and Linen's Etsy Shop and ordered one for myself.
I also ordered one of Carolyn's linen and canvas Union Jack pillow covers...

I love it Carolyn ~ thank you!!

I love how it looks with one of my favorite pillows, and helps to whiten up my love seat.

My lil' white pumpkins are turning a bit yellow.
I am starting to feel ready to deck the halls for the holidays...

My tradition has always been to start the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Which will give me time to finish up Jake's room makeover.
I think my new linen cross pillow just might end up in his room.
Jim is installing the new closet doors as I type, so tomorrow I can paint them.

I brought some wintery and holiday items in to my booth last weekend and I sold quite a bit this past week.
The two beautiful handmade hand hooked pillows sold quickly...

The left over Advent calendar I made last year sold as well...

So, I have been busy gathering up some more treasures to fill in the spaces and am in the midst of making another Advent calendar for the Holiday Market Open House and Sale at the shop.
Here is a treasure I did find for the Open House...

This old beauty belonged to my friend's great aunt who was a flapper back in the day.
I love it!

I am sharing with Timewashed for Blissful Whites Wednesday.
Thank you for hosting Becky!!

As always I appreciate you stopping by for a visit!
Have a blissful day!

whiter booth...

For Becky's Blissful Whites Wednesday today I thought I would show you some pictures of my booth.
I had strayed away from having a booth full of vintage white treasures.
I warmed my space up for our Vintage Fall Market Weekend...

I like the old wood pieces but the country feel is just not me.
So I am happy to say I am well on my way to whitening it back up for the winter...

The vintage bureau used to be pink.
It was in my daughter's room for a while, then in the shop for a while...

I think the details are prettier in white (and not everyone likes roses)...

I brought in some new mirrors...

And made some new displays mixing the vintage whites and some wooden pieces with a great rusty old spring for a back drop...

I love the way my booth looks now and it will be the perfect backdrop for some simple displays I am putting together for our Holiday Market Open House and Sale...

Thanks for hosting today Becky and thank you for stopping by!

makeover sneak peek...

I thought I would pop in today and share a little sneak peek of the makeover in my son's room that I have been working on.
I am blending a little industrial...

Cool vintage gas station number from the shop

With some wonderful reclaimed wood that my husband found curbside...

free

I shopped around my house and found a night stand...

yard sale find for $5

Then I shopped my booth and found a mirror...

thrifting find for $8

I am trying to keep the budget very low for this makeover.
I did pick up a few things at Ikea and Walmart.
I also used the rest of a gift certificate to Pottery Barn that I won in a giveaway for this sign...

free

I painted the walls gray, although they look on the blue side in the photos.  They do have a blue~ish tint during the day, but at night they are the dark gray I was going for.

I am hoping to finish up the last few projects like a headboard out of the old wood Jim brought home.
(Ok, I am waiting for Jim to finish that project.)
I need to find the perfect curtain rod and get some closet doors up too.
I am also waiting for Jake to come home on Thanksgiving break from school before I put anything up on the walls.
I like that he wants some input!

I am sharing with Linda at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday and Kristen at My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia for Tuesday's Treasures.
Thank you ladies for hosting!

Thank you all for stopping by today, have a great day!
