three cheers for the red, white and blue...and me too

Memorial Day Weekend is almost here and I am taking you all back to Sue's house to share her patriotic themed guest room and bath. Remember, Sue's house is on a lake ~ wouldn't it be nice to spend a summer weekend in this room... I love Sue's attention to detail, just take a look at the guest bathroom... She has a wonderful collection of vintage bath items ~ and definitely has a great sense of humor... Do you think this little dresser was a salesman sample...How adorable is this little chair...I think this is a great idea... Three cheers for the red white and blue... And for me too ~ I won another giveaway!!! I won a $50 gift certificate to Pottery Barn from Ginger over at Cottage on Rosewood!! Ginger has the most beautiful blog and always has a wonderful project up her sleeve. Her photos are inspiring and she always has a great tale to tell. She also has booth space which, of course, is too far away for me to shop in. Take some time and catch up on her blog ~ you will love it!! Thanks again Ginger!! Thank you Sue for letting me take my readers on another little tour of your beautiful home. If you missed the other tours of Sue's house you can read part one here and enjoy part two here. Finally, thanks to all of you for visiting today ~ let me know if you have something to cheer about too!

white wednesday in my kitchen...

Good Morning! Kathleen over at Faded Charm is hosting White Wednesday and today I thought I would show you a few whites from my kitchen... This crown canister is from Homegoods and the plate was my Mom's. Look at the wonderful detail in the plate... Do any of you shop at Pier One? I think the store has changed so much over the years but every once in a while I pop in. I found these last summer... My Mom had quite a collection of roosters in her kitchen. I kept a few which I have in my downstairs kitchen. I occasionally bring this one up... He sits next to my recipe box... Old McCoy pottery... Cute little drawer pull... The flowers from my weekend party are still looking beautiful...
Thank you Kathleen for hosting today! Before you go and check out all the other dreamy whites take a moment and visit Paula over at Castle and Cottage ~ she is having a giveaway!! I will be keeping my fingers crossed ~ although I did buy one of Paula's signs for my kitchen... Well, thank you all for stopping by for White Wednesday in my kitchen!

vintage summer blues...

What a wonderful weekend we had ~ hope yours was too!! I am joining a new party today. Melinda who has the most beautiful blog and boutique ~ Alabaster Rose Designs ~ is hosting Vintage Summer Mondays. She is inviting us to show our summer flea market finds! Here is what I am sharing today... I found this old chair many years ago at a flea market. It has seen a few colors over the years but is now a pale shade of blue. The old crock was my Mom's... I love these old dried Hydrangeas. They are actually from my garden! Look at the beautiful blues...
I am looking forward to treasure hunting this summer along the main streets and back roads of Cape Cod. Take some time today and visit Alabaster Rose Designs to see what everyone else is sharing. Also take a few moments to catch up on Melinda's blog and browse through her boutique. You will be a new follower for sure!

As I mentioned we had a wonderful and busy weekend. Jake's Confirmation went off without a hitch. The violin music played while all the candidates went before the Bishop was so lovely. Remember Jake's First Communion photo... Here he is on Saturday... Jim helping Jake with his tie... We had a little get together at our house after. Good weather, good food and great company! Jim's brother Jay and his wife Christine ended up staying a while so we lit the chiminea and enjoyed the fire until almost midnight! We always have fun when we get together. Their daughter Gianna was making her First Communion the next day...I don't know how they did it!! Here she is, looking like a princess... From a beautiful baby... To a beautiful young lady... Thank you Gianna for letting me share your picture! And thank you all for stopping by today ~ I hope you all have a great week!!

lucky girl...

Happy Friday! It has been a long, busy week for me...the princess came home with all her "stuff". I think it all multiplied since she left with it in September!! It has all been somewhat organized and packed away until August ~ all in totes and plastic drawers ~ right outside my room. I do not think I will like looking at that all summer. Thank goodness I will be away alot. I have also been preparing for company tomorrow to celebrate my son's Confirmation ~ mostly cleaning as I am keeping appetizers simple and ordering pizza. I did not have anything planned to post today until I popped in over at Sandi's ~ drum roll please ~ I won her giveaway!!! Look at these beautiful french inspired garden markers...

Am I a lucky girl or what?! I call Sandi my fairy blog mother ~ she was there on day 1 of my blogging adventure to help me through a few behind the scene elements of my first post and always has time to help me when I need it. So, thank you Sandi for your friendship and for these little beauties!!

I actually took a few photos yesterday of the pretty flowers I bought for the party tomorrow...

I gathered a few other pitchers and will use them to hold forks, knives and spoons... I put a picture of Jake from his Christening and his First Communion into this old frame... It was so hot the day of his Christening and I put him in a little satin suit... My pride and joy...where does the time go...wasn't this just yesterday?! Um...please pay no attention to my hideous decor ~ what was I thinking!! Now for his First Communion (again keep your eyes focused on Jake)... So sweet!! The fireplace, not so much! If you take a peek here you can see what my fireplace looks like today ~ please!! I will take some pictures tomorrow of Jake and share them with you next week. For now I will share this one from our trip to Walt Disney World last year... I have had so many new visitors to my blog this week ~ it was nice meeting all of you. Thank you for stopping by today and enjoy your weekend!! This lucky girl will!

wonderful in white...

Aaaahhh...my favorite day of the week...Wednesday ~ and thanks to Kathleen over at Faded Charm who makes the day look wonderful in white! Today I am going to share a few projects I have been working on. First we have this old ballot or mail box... Jim brought this home when we first married and he used to use it in his garage to hold his saw blades. I brought it into the shop a few times with no luck. I decided it would look wonderful in white...I wanted to do a little something different on the inside. Okay, okay ~ I admit it, I did not want to paint the inside. I decided to use old pages from some Munsey's Magazines that I had...I used all old advertisements... I also decided to leave some of the original wood inside. Yesterday I put it back in my little corner... On to my next project. I had this in my etsy shop for a while... Very lovely ~ but while treasure hunting I would see this same print quite often. You guessed it, I thought it would look wonderful in white...It nests in my room for now. The pretty lady is still there, I just placed my favorite scrapbooking paper over it and added a wonderful french image from The Graphics Fairy... I bought this print more for the frame ~ all the wonderful scrolls and beading. I think you will agree that it looks wonderful in white! Before you go and enjoy more eye candy over at Kathleens take a moment and visit my friends Anne and Jodie who I recently sent a little token to for making me feel so welcome and special since I started my little musings here. They are both so sweet and I thank them again for their friendship!
