thank goodness for white wednesday...

Yes I know I said I would not be around for this week's White Wednesday since I would be in Brimfield ~ yet here I am. The weather forecasted for today, the only day I could go, is rainy and cold. Jim and I went last year and it rained most of the day. Although it was warmer last year it did put a damper on the day (ha). So when I heard rain and low 40s I passed. When I woke up this morning I could hear the birds singing and it was not raining. My heart sank but when I looked at weather.com this morning it showed it raining in Brimfield and will be most of the day. I have been waiting so long to go and am disappointed but Brimfield ~ I will (hopefully) see you in September! All I can say now is thank goodness for White Wednesday ~ seeing what everyone is sharing today will definitely cheer me up!! Even though my living room is still a work in progress I thought today was a good day to share my new white couch! Here is the old couch which was part of a set ~ I still have the matching love seat as well as a floral chair... We bought the set when we moved in here in 2000. The couch has seen better days but the love seat and chair are still in very good condition as they are not used as much... I found the Rachel Ashwell "Home Sweet Home" pillow in Karen's booth at the shop...While the support on the couch went, the chair and love seat are still strong and would be great slipcovered. I would love to have the love seat white to match my new white couch and perhaps a pretty stripe on the chair giving the room a bit of a coastal feel. I did slipcover the love seat in my den but to put them on the furniture in the living room would drive Jim nuts. He really does give me carte blanche when it comes to decorating but he does put his two cents in sometimes. So the chair and love seat stay as is, for now... I have been admiring the pillows that Sissie makes. Take some time today and visit her blog and Etsy shop ~ you are in for a beautiful treat! Until I treat myself to one of her gorgeous creations I have this pretty pillow... As well as this one that was my Mom's... Trying to bring a little beach charm to the room for the spring and summer I picked these cute little votive candle holders up at The Christmas Tree Shop... I have saved the best for last ~ my new white couch... As I said, the room is still a work in progress. I would like a new coffee table but for now I am going to paint the blanket chest white (of course). I also would like a different lamp on my pretty pie crust table... I also think I need to raise the shutter up and maybe hang something on it. I would love to make something with burlap and shells like I have seen all over so many other blogs. You know me, better late than never! I would also love an old chandelier to replaced this one... I love having this ledge to dress up. Of course I have some of my favorite books... I brought my Mom's old bottles up from my room. I love the color... They are perfect with this print I got from Ballard... Great metal votive candle holder I found at HomeGoods and my little cherub... I need to find more of these resin sand dollars ~ I used them to make plaques for the shop. I use an old silver trinket tray to hold our car keys... Well, what do you think of my new white couch? I just love it!! Very comfy. Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a peek in my living room. To see more wonderful whites go visit Kathleen over at Faded Charm. It is raining here now too and all I can say is thank goodness for White Wednesday!

I LOVE your new white couch. It's hard when you want to change everything at once, I know. Of course if money was no object, then it would be a snap! Sorry about Brimfield, some of my dealers from my store are back there now. Rachel Ashwell was just in shopping with us on Saturday. I've known her for a very long time, and I have to say she is an amazingly kind and gifted woman. Not to even mention the word "strong"! Have a "Happy WW"!
Take care, Sue

Oh my goodness- I love the couch!!! I love the look of the whites you are bringing into the room. So refreshing. As for Brimfield, I would love to get the chance to go someday, I have heard so much about it. There is a huge Labor Day flea market near us in Hillsville Virginia, and I have only been there once! Keep saying I'm going "next year" but maybe this year.....

You are definitely lightening and brightening up your living room. You'll get it like you want in no time at all. Love that white couch but wouldn't last over here. With all the dust, and the grime from the kids, and cat hair from Jingles, I'm afraid of what it might look like within the first week. :) Enjoy the rain -- we have hazy skies with light dust so although it wanted to rain today, the drops just couldn't get through the muck. Happy White Wednesday! Tammy

Hi Sandi,
Everything looks so pretty in your home. It's so warm and inviting. Your new white sofa is just the style that I want, I love it. I also like the chest as a coffee table and painting it white would be wonderful. You have done a beautiful job and the sweet home pillow is so pretty.

Thank you for mentioning my blog and your lovely compliment about my pillows. You make me sound so good, so much better than I deserve. I thank you so very much. I am so glad that you are my blogging friend. You are a real sweetheart and I always love visiting you.

hugs
Sissie

I love your couch!! As for your chandelier,if you are looking for a change, why don't you add some lace or pearls to the shades, or hang some beach shells - this might give it a new look until you change it out. The shape of it is so neutral and basic that I think it looks nice as it is!

I'm heading to the Cape tomorrow and if I don't get overwhelmed at the Wrentham outlet mall, I might try to find your shop. I love Chico's and the PB/Williams Sonoma store and could spend hours in both of them....If I lived as close to that mall as you do, I would have to have retail therapy

I love your white sofa! I'm sofa shopping right now...actually loveseat shopping, our apartment is too small for a full size sofa. I can't afford a white one so I'm just going to get something cheap and slipcover it eventually.

Yours looks great, your living room is adorable! Happy WW:)

Sandi,
Love your WW post. Guess what, I have the same couch, Ikea right? Love mine, even with 3 kids. I just throw those slipcovers in the wash with bleach, good as new. I love LOVE your blanket chest, don't get rid of it. Why not just throw a pretty tablecloth or a burlap runner on it. The ledge is such a cool place for doo-dads. And I'm the biggest Sissie fan out there, have 2 of her awesome pillows. Lisa

Sandi, I found you through Jodie... how sweet of you to share your Nana with her. I love your white couch. I have a perfectly good couch with the prettiest red floral fabric on it... Problem????? I'm tired of it. I'm thinking white slip covers!!!! Your shutter is wonderful. I would hang it & then put some pretty plates on it, shells, shell wreath... you got the idea. Have a great weekend. Come see when you get a minute. Charlene
