before or after...

I am popping in this morning to share another new vignette that is the result of my spring cleaning.

This dry sink greets you at the top of the stairs when you come in my home...

Before

But you might remember last week that I was inspired to put this mirror over my mantel.

After

Can you see that a few of the panes of glass in the window are slightly tinted a blue green?
It compliments the eggs under the cloche...

I love this old mirror.
It was the beginning of my collection...

To be honest ~ I love the simpler before look but this is a nice change for a while...

I guess I will have to find another wonderful old mirror to put back there!
Vintage mirror shopping is one of my favorite things to do!
Which look do you like ~ before or after?

I am joining Kathleen for White Wednesday.
I think I will go peek at some inspiration before I go with Jake to get him fitted for his tux for senior prom next week.
You know I will be bringing tissues.

Thanks for stopping by!

memories...

Always in my heart...

Source: bhg.com via Sandra on Pinterest

As we approach another milestone in my family, I wish my parents and my mother in law were here to see Jake graduate.
I know they are so proud!
While we will be celebrating Memorial Day this weekend and kicking off another summer, I will be holding my happy memories a little tighter.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday weekend!

inspired...

In the middle of spring cleaning my nest, I started playing around and made some new vignettes here and there.

I started with my mantel.
Here is what it has looked like for a few years...

I am not kidding when I say a few years (this photo is from 2010!).
When the seasons changed and for holidays I would add a few treasures, but the mirror and the vignettes on each side stayed the same.

I was inspired by the zinc pots I picked up in Brimfield, as well as all the beauty I see in the Jeanne d'Arc Living magazines.
This is what I put together...

I love the vignette on the left...

I love the mirror in the middle...

I love the vignette on the right...

I love it all!!

Besides the zinc pots and the container (from Decor Steals) holding my last bloom from Mother's Day (which should dry perfectly), I used pieces I already had!

I have more new vignettes to show you (and I have some empty spaces too) but I will save those for another post.

I am sharing with Kathleen for White Wednesday, where I am always inspired!

Thank you for stopping by!

busy doing something...

After I shared with you all last week that I felt like I was busy doing nothing, I started thinking about what I really did accomplish.
My son (my baby) is graduating high school in a few weeks so I have been doing a deep spring cleaning around my nest for the party we will have.
I have also been gathering "stuff" to send him off to college in the fall.  (Yes, I am teary eyed as I typed that.)
It has been very busy at the shop and I had to go in a few times and bring some new treasures in as well as making sure I have pieces on hand ready to go.
I also maintain the website for the shop so with lots of sales I try to keep our recent finds page current with photos of new stock.
Throw in all the regular domestic stuff and I guess I was busy doing something!

I am off this morning to work my shift at the shop and am bringing in some new treasures...

I bought the sweet old metal bed a few weeks ago and I had the vintage child's chair (which was black) that I painted white.
I found the sweet, petite drop leaf table at the Marshfield Fair Flea Market this past weekend (along with some other great finds).
I think this will make a pretty vignette in my booth...

Here is my next pile that will be heading to the shop soon...

I found the vintage portrait and round mirror at the flea market too.
The frames will be painted white soon.
You might recognize the white mirror in the back.
It used to be on my mantel...

Just wait until you see what is on my mantel now!
I have been moving things around my nest and am loving how it looks!
I will be sharing my new vignettes for White Wednesday.
I hope you come back for a peek!
I am happy my blogger's block is gone!

Today I am sharing for the first time with Angie for her Kick of Time Tuesday vintage party!
Thank you Angie!

Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful day!

busy doing nothing...

It's been one of those weeks.
I was very busy but did not get a lot done.
Has that ever happened to you?
I also am experiencing blogger's block.

I wish I could pack my bags...

and take my family...

Back to the happiest place on earth...

I will keep my fingers crossed that my spot on the beach would still be waiting for me...

But, that is not going to happen!
However, I will be relaxing at my campground this weekend.
I am going to relax and plant some flowers...

 ...and regroup for next week.

I hope you enjoy your weekend and I promise to have something new to share soon!
Thanks for stopping by!

mother's day weekend...

I enjoyed a beautiful Mother's Day weekend!
Jim and I went for a late lunch ~ early dinner on Friday by the waterfront in Plymouth.
Saturday while my fisherman was wetting a line, I spent the day puttering around my campsite.
On Sunday, Jaclyn came down for a visit and brought me these lovely flowers...

And when I got home this old treasure was waiting for me on the back deck...

My girl knows what I like!
I can't wait to go flower shopping this week!

We brought some lobsters home and threw some steaks on the grill too.  We enjoyed a few glasses of wine and watched the sun set.
It was a perfect weekend!

Jake had to work on Sunday, but he left me a special gift to open when I got home...

I can't wait to start watching!

So, tell me, how was your Mother's Day?
Thanks for visiting ~ have a wonderful week!!

brimfield 2012...

Well, I made it to Brimfield and saw some gorgeous stuff!
Take a peek at this booth (I never got their names but they were a nice couple from Maryland)...

I would have loved this headboard for my Paris Hotel Suite...

But it was so expensive!
I thought the prices were very high throughout the fields (my husband was in shock)!

Corabelle Rose's space is always a treat to walk through...

There were lots of letters to be found.
I really wanted some of these...

We were there by 8 am and despite the weather it was very, very crowded.  As we walked through many booths there were piles of items in the corners with sold tags on them like this wonderful old sign in Jackie's Bliss Farm Antiques booth...

I did not get as many photos as I would have liked.
Lots of vendors said no when I asked to take a picture and the weather was a bit on the drizzly side too.
Sometimes I just got lost in thought as I wandered around.
Then as I left a field and was walking down the main road I could not believe my eyes.  Rachel Ashwell was walking toward me!
I was absolutely star struck!
I said "Hi Rachel!!" ~ she looked around to see who spoke and then she said in her wonderful British accent with a smile, "Oh, Hello!".
I kept walking with my heart beating so fast and turned to Jim who had the biggest smile on his face and then he asked why I didn't ask for a photo!
I was just so caught off guard that I did not even think of it.
It was a true pixie dust moment for me!

Jim and I met up with Mary Ellen for lunch and then hit a few more fields together afterwards.
As we were walking Mary Ellen noticed Bronson Pinchot!!
I was not going to let this opportunity pass me by...

He and his crew were so friendly and funny!  They told us they were currently filming the first episode of their second season of The Bronson Pinchot Project right in Brimfield!

Mary Ellen and I were like giddy school girls for the rest of the afternoon!

I did manage to find a few treasures to bring home with me like this beautiful old portrait from the 70s...

A few pieces to satisfy my industrial craving...

Not sure what I am going to do with these yet...

I love this old mirror frame and might add some screening and make an earring holder for Jaclyn...

These are my favorite finds...

Sweet little french book...

Love the cover of this arithmetic book...

And a few old zinc pots...

Last but not least are these old fence tops...

Personally this is not a venue for this shop girl to find many things to add to her booth.  It is rather a place to find something for myself.
Although we did see a booth or two with a few treasures from The Wrentham Country Store for sale!
They know where to get some vintage goodies at a great price!

I am sharing my Brimfield adventure with Debra for

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting!

I almost forgot...congratulations to Sandy from For The Love Of White ~ email me your address and I can mail off your copy of Romantic Prairie magazine!
