christmas past...

When I first started my holiday nest tour last week I mentioned how I felt my style has changed in a year.  It actually has been slowly changing over the years.  However, like me, I am sure many of you still save a few pieces that you just can not part with.  Pieces that hold special memories of Christmas past.  I usually display these treasures downstairs but since that whole space is under going a little makeover (more on that after the holidays) I picked out a few favorites and put together a little vignette in my entry way this year...
The Christmas tin sign was a gift from my husband when we were first married...
I collect Santas, especially when they have such a beautiful face.  The two cone shaped Santas were my Mom's, again love their faces...

I don't know what they are made of but it feels like a soft leather!  I also printed out some Christmas sheet music from the Graphics Fairy and added some Scrabble letters...

I had a gathering on Friday night and put together little favor bags for my girls (thank you Ladies and Gents for a wonderful evening!)...

I am in love with these petite Flora Doora bags (thank you Jane!) that I got on Etsy.  They are lined with plastic so you can add some fresh cut flowers too!  The burlap ones are my favorite but I love red ticking at the holidays and put one on the back of my front door...
Under the table (which I am on the fence on painting) is this cute red chair that would go in front of the fireplace at Christmas when I was little...
Not much natural light shines in this spot of my house, let me turn the lights on...
Petite and sweet!!  I am not much of a tablescaper but I did put this together for my gathering...

Also in my kitchen I have Jim's stocking that his Mom made for him when he was little...

Isn't it wonderful!  I do not know what those spots are and I am afraid to wash it.  I am not sure why we hang it on the back door knob but that has been it's place of honor since we moved in.  Well, thanks for visiting today and taking a little peek of some of my treasures from Christmas past.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Hi Sandi, do not paint the little red chair. It is just adorable! Imagine the world if it was all white! I think everyone would be depressed. We all need a little color in our lives. And this chair is just perfect the way it is. :)

Love that stocking Jim's mom made. Absolutely adorable. And such a great treasure to enjoy each and every holiday season.

Hope all is well! Best wishes, Tammy

Following trends is a great way to decorate at the holidays and keep it fresh, but nothing can outshine memories. Yours are delightful and such wonderful treasures.

Hi Sandi ~ I agree completely. There are items in my Holiday boxes that I take out and look at adoringly, but put them back in the box because I just don't love them anymore, I just cannot bear to "Goodwill" them yet. Those burlap buckets are very very nice and everything looks great.

You're right Sandi, there are some Christmas treasures we just can't part with no matter what our style may be. Your Santas, little chair and husband's stocking will stand the test of time and make you smile.

Sandi- I love that you have so many special memories attached to the things you share. I love a lot of the old stuff and, even though my style has changed, I find that I put it out year after year to honor certain memories.

Thanks for a lovely post..and that chair.....PERFECT~ I hope you have a special little one that it will go to someday. Hugs-Diana
