old crush and old trunks...

Why do winter colds last so long?
It has been about 3 weeks for me.
Longer for Jim.
Seems like forever.
I am finally on the zpac.  I actually stayed on the couch all day yesterday and caught up on some taped shows and watched a few episodes of Big Valley on MeTV.
(Did anyone else have a crush on Heath?)

Anyway, I am hoping that tomorrow I can get back to painting.
The big push is on as our 3rd annual
At Home With White Show
at the shop is coming up on April 6th and 7th.

This is my tent space from last year

Prepping for the show, in addition to keeping my booth full (I just sold two big items) and working on some winter projects around my home is going to keep me very, very busy for the next few months.
Treasures have been starting to pile up downstairs as they get cleaned up or painted waiting for the show like this old steamer trunk ~ before...

And after...

Jim actually brought the old trunk home one day along with this other one...

This old beauty has already been painted and brought to the shop...

I love them in white, don't you?

another estate sale keeper...

Back in September I shared how I warmed up my Paris Hotel Suite for fall with this old distressed bureau...

You can read more from that post here.

While I liked the look, the piece just did not fill the space enough.
And, to be honest, I grew tired of the color and longed for a white piece.
So, I brought it in the shop a few weeks ago and sold it the same day!
A young couple bought it for a new house they were building and are going to use it for a vanity for a bathroom sink.
Why didn't I think of that?

I filled the space in my bedroom right away with the other piece I kept from the great estate sale I went to down the street from me...

The bureau was white with some hearts stenciled on the top drawer.  It was easy to fix with a fresh coat of paint.
It is an old heavy piece and I love the side detail...

The crisp white that I used made my comfy white chair look creamy white...

...so I switched the mirrors to even things out...

Don't you think it is a better fit for the space...

I do and you all know how I love vintage whites!

Thank you so much for visiting!

browsing the shop...

It has been a while since I took you all browsing through the Wrentham Country Store.
I thought I would share a peek or two with you this morning.

Love is in the air at the shop with Valentine's Day right around the corner...

In January we welcomed a new Shop Girl, Chris Glynn of Tutti Chic Designs (you probably already follow her bloc Tutti Chic)...

We have some wonderful pieces of furniture...

and pretty lamps...

We have a great selection of architectural salvage...

and garden statues...

As well as lots of great things to help feather your nest...

You can see more on our website or you can follow us on Facebook.

Speaking of Facebook...I made a page for the shop but I created a business page where I can not "like" other pages.
Any suggestions on how I can switch it without creating a new page?

Thank you all for browsing the shop with me today ~ have a wonderful week!!!

pinterest wish list...

It's snowing here today.
I am enjoying the beautiful white view out my window this morning.
With no pressing errands to run and being in between projects for the shop and my nest, I have a feeling it is going to be a Pinterest kind of day!
On my "wish list" Pinterest board I pinned this beautiful white firkin filled with hydrangeas...

I missed out on one (not white) at the shop a few months ago.
I could kick myself.
I should know better since treasures like that go quickly at the shop.
While I was out treasure hunting this past summer with my girlfriends, Sue spied an old bucket that we thought would be a good choice until I found a real firkin.  It is great having extra eyes looking for the stuff you like isn't it!
I finally painted it the other day...

Thanks Sue!
Of course since I had a new vignette in my den I needed to fluff a little more.
I actually made a new pillow.
Ok, I really did not "make" a new pillow.  I just used an extra valance and "covered" a pillow...

My Mom made these valances a long time ago for her kitchen and now they hang in mine.
Having only two windows, I am happy to finally use the extra one and wonder why I did not think of this earlier!
I would love real pillows made with this material (by a professional of course).
Anyone recognize it and know where I might be able to buy some?

Well, thanks for visiting today!
I am joining Becky for Blissful Whites Wednesday where I am sure I will find plenty of other things to pin today!

You can check out my Pinterest wish list board and all my others here.

a visit with Mary Ellen...

Happy Friday!

A few weeks ago, Jim and I were invited to join Mary Ellen and her husband Ray for a night in at their home.
I was looking forward to spending time with them but I was looking forward even more to seeing her living room and office, which were recently given a makeover.

She hired Kathy and Erin of Inspirational Home Design, who to me, were given a dream job as they had access to Mary Ellen's stash of treasures.

I wish I took more photos and I wish they came out a bit better.
(I also should have taken them before I started drinking some Skinny Girl!)

Come on in and take a peek...

Love the two different pieces she uses as end tables to the couch...

Oh and see the pretty lamp...those are the ones from the estate sale I told you about.  She just changed out the shades.

I love this little desk that is in the corner to your left when you walk  through the french door into the room...

Mary Ellen bought this wonderful old tin piece from me...I think it looks much better in her house.  They attached it to some old shutters and it hangs over their television...

And look at this comfy love seat to watch TV from...

I joked when I first arrived that I was glad I brought a big pocketbook in case I saw some beautiful treasures I had to have.
Unfortunately, it was not big enough to sneak this treasure out...

Beautiful old wings from a broken garden statue...sigh!

The living room opens up to their home office...

Her wonderful old dress form greets you as you enter...

There are so many fabulous details...

Lots of storage...

I love how they slip covered a run of the mill office chair...

Every room needs a little unexpected touch...

Jim and I had a wonderful time and I left feeling very inspired.

Almost all the pieces in these rooms were pieces that Mary Ellen already had in the room or around the house or in her shed.
She really has a great eye as you can see here and at the shop!

Speaking of the shop, the Wrentham Country Store was named a reader favorite AGAIN in Flea Market Style's Wedding issue!!

Congrats to Mary Ellen and all my fellow Shop Girls, and a big thank you at all our customers!!
The issue is amazing and full of wonderful ideas.
As I browsed through the magazine a lot of the items they used can be found right at the shop!!

I am sharing today with Debra for Be Inspired Friday!
Thank you for stopping by ~ have a wonderful weekend!!
