just stuff...

I hope your Christmas day was Merry...

We found out Christmas morning that our best friend's home caught fire on Christmas Eve.  Everyone is safe and nobody was hurt.
Even their sweet cat Lovey was saved.
Thank you God.

Coming together with our other great friends a few days later to help them salvage what they could, was a day I won't soon forget.
Unfortunately, they lost pretty much everything.
Seeing their strength as they sifted through the mess was amazing.
Through the tears, a few smiles and the sound of laughter began to appear.
As well as the positives.

They still have each other.
And the rest of it is just stuff.
My wish is that their good memories will keep them strong and help them through.

The rebuilding will begin and that time will help them heal...

Hoping they are all nested in their new home way before next Christmas.

I reminded her of just how much fun all us girls will have this summer spending time together vintage treasure hunting again to help her feather her new nest!

Thank you all so much for stopping by.
I would love it if you would keep our friends in your thoughts and prayers.

I'm joining Debra for her Christmas Vintage Inspiration party at Common Ground.
I would like to thank her for featuring my post from last week!

Have a great weekend!

chalkboard art...

Hello!
I'm so behind on visiting with you all (sorry).
Don't tell Santa though, I think I am on his nice list this year!

Do you remember the chalkboard I scored on my NH road trip?

I thought I would show you today the holiday vignette I built around it...

I kept it simple.
I hung the cute stocking I also found on the road trip on the chalkboard...

Don't you just love these Santas (they were my Mom's)...

I put my little tree in an old chamber pot...

No decorations on the tree, just one of my favorite photos of my kids...

I have had a few different greetings on the chalkboard as we inch closer to Christmas.
Today I did a new one (with a little help from Pinterest)...

Does not look like we will be having a white Christmas though.
Tomorrow is going to be stormy, but just rain.
Thank goodness!
How is it looking in your neck of the woods?

Thanks for visiting!

wrapping day...

Today was wrapping day.
Since the kids were both home I closed the door to my bedroom (or my Paris Hotel Suite), lit my tree and got to work...

Do you find it harder to buy for your kids as they get older...

Mine really never ask for much...

They really don't "need" anything...

They have been more nice than naughty and I am sure Santa will be good to them...

As I wrapped I thought about the Christmas mornings when they were little...

And I realized how time flies...

And how lucky I am to have all these memories...

Then as I was finishing up, I continued to pray for the families in Connecticut and hope their memories bring them some comfort.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a peaceful week!

and the stockings were hung...

...by the chimney with care...

I love these beautiful stockings that I won in a giveaway from Dreamy Whites a few years ago...

I love my old sled too...

I also have a few other little stockings scattered around the house.
How sweet is this cable knit stocking ornament trimmed in faux fur that I bought this year for my tree...

And my pretty pearl adorned stockings that I have had for years...

Then there is my tiniest of all...

What would you like in your stocking this year?
Remember, good things come in small stockings!

Have a wonderful day!

let there be light...

In my last post, I shared my holiday mantel for this year.
Thank you so much for your sweet comments and compliments!

I love the way it came out, but I would really love to have it lit with a warm glow at night.
While at the shop today I picked up a faux garland that matched my faux greens I already had.
So, after a little fluffing ~ let there be light...

Just looking at it makes me smile (tis the season to be jolly)...

Oh, and if you take a peek at the shop's Facebook page, you might just get another song to stick in your head!

Thanks for visiting ~ enjoy the rest of your weekend!

holiday mantel 2012...

I kept my mantel simple this year...

Mixing some of my old favorites...

With a few new purchases like these cute mini white pine cones from Michael's...

Breaking out my faux mercury glass pieces and tucking my faux greens in...

Adding classic colors of the season with some vintage books...

Just look at this sweet one I found treasure hunting in New Hampshire...

I hung my Pottery Barn sparkly wreath over my vintage mirror...

Then I added one of my favorite ornaments I picked up at HomeGoods quite a few years ago...

All blending together for a simple holiday mantel.
Thanks for stopping by!
