looking for vintage reds...

Yes...your eyes are not playing tricks on you.  The muse that dreams in vintage whites is looking for vintage reds!  You see with Spring knocking on the door (it might reach 70 here today!) and yard clean up looming and deck fluffing soon after, I have been trying to think how I can make my deck look pretty and colorful without a lot of flowers.  I am gone every weekend in the Spring and for extra long weekends during the summer and everyone who stays home can never remember to water my flowers.

We need to get some new furniture for the deck (new to me anyway) and I thought instead of spending money on flowers that die every year why not spend it on some accessories with a pop of color?  So I went to Etsy looking for vintage reds and made this treasury...

For the description I wrote...
Roses are red,
Vintage treasures are too.
They will add good color in the garden,
When your green thumb is blue!

Ok, I never said I was a poet!  I do not think my phone will be ringing off the hook from publishers anytime soon...

I am joining Debra over at Common Ground for Vintage Inspiration Friday.  I hope you all enjoy your weekend!!

Lovely reds Sandi! I love flowers, but I need a gardener to take care of them for me. I always try so hard to get them to stay around for a LONG time, and it never happens for me. About mid summer they all are looking pathetic!

I LOVE all the reds. I want a house with a red front door. :) I just went and bought new plants for our balconies, but it does seem a waste when I know many of them won't last once the hot temps really hit around here. We just don't have any color around us, so I need to see something pretty when I look out my windows. Your poem made me chuckle. Hope you are having a great day. Tammy

I really like these! In Florida, flowers need so much water in the summer especially when they are in planters. Great idea.

You are a genius Sandi. Now this is a great idea for the porch. I'm always scared to death to leave very long in the Summer. My husband has a hard time remembering to water the container plants too. And to plant them is so darn expensive (ouch)
Maybe you will start a new fad!!!

I love the reds. Good idea, at least they won't die. I really like the wheel and the little step stool in your treasury. That phone is my favorite though.

I love the poem!! It is so perfect!! The pops of red will look great and the treasury that you put together is beautiful! I like the idea of spending more on things that will last, I struggle with that every summer for I too have a very blue thumb! :)

You found some wonderful reds! Great choices. That red phone is fantastic!!

You need to show us what you end up with and how you brighten your deck in reds!!

Check my Etsy shop out in about a week and half and see some of the reds I will have.
