tuesday's treasures with rose petals and rust...

On Tuesdays over at Rose Petals and Rust, the lovely Stefanie blogs about her Tuesday's Treasures, showing what new items she lists in her Etsy shop. I am joining her today to show you what is new in my Etsy shop ~ a wonderful old 4H Club first place rosette ribbon... Sweet little baby buggy planter... As well as a vintage baby rattle... Stefanie is one busy lady ~ not only does she have a lovely Etsy Shop, she has her own online shop as well as booth space in a local shop. While you are peeking at what she has in her shops, and looking at the inspiring booth photos make sure you check out her Pink Craft Cottage too ~ it is so wonderful!!!

Have fun browsing!!

season of change...

Hello and Happy Monday! I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! It was a beautiful one here but it went by way too fast. Another heat wave has moved in on us here in New England. Our town does not start school until September 7th but high school sports are in full swing with practices well underway with some upcoming scrimmages. It will be so hot this afternoon for my son's soccer practice. He has a scrimmage tomorrow night and I can not wait to see him play again... Our campground is getting quieter with each passing day. A lot of towns start school this week. I took a walk around my little neighborhood on "the hill" and took a few photos of my friends campsites. They look so pretty and peaceful ~ just waiting for their next arrival...
All of my neighbors do such a wonderful job setting up camp each season, taking pride in their site and making it look so nice...
Planting flowers for unexpected pops of color... Personalizing their site and adding things to remind them of their summers growing up like the beautiful sound of an old fashioned screen door opening and closing... It is so nice that everyone keeps their site looking pretty because... The places we gather on my site are quieter now too...
But this weekend the laughter will be back with good times and great friends to celebrate the Labor Day holiday weekend. Thank goodness I have something to look forward to because I have a busy week ahead. Remember my post back in May about the princess suite? Jaclyn was coming home for the summer and I knew her room would not look so sweet for a while. That seems like yesterday! My girl worked so hard this summer waitressing, bartending and doing an internship as well. I did not get to spend much time with her but I know she had a great summer. The next few days we will spend packing all her "stuff" back up to move back to school for her senior year! I feel the tears welling up as I type. My little girl will be graduating college next year!!! I thought I just put her on the kindergarten bus... She will be turning 21 in just a few short weeks... This photo was from our 2009 Disney trip. I did not even see her enough to take a new photo of her this summer! She only made it to our campground once. It was a season of change for me this summer ~ both good and bad. It was good, actually great that Jim and I were able to go on vacation to Aruba without the kids but it was also bad, actually more sad that Jac has outgrown the campground and was home. At least I have a few more years until Jake wants to stay home too. While our nest will soon be half full, I do miss this... I miss having my whole family together ~ all together and smiling! Hmmm, another Disney photo ~ I think I just might be getting the bug again! Well, thanks for visiting today ~ I should probably get busy packing. Although you know I will do a bit of blog hopping first!

not just another book post...

I know, you are probably thinking not another book post but I just can't help it! While working at the shop yesterday I spied this little beauty... I knew it would be perfect for this spot in my craft room... Perfect fit for my fall vignette... Jim gave this to me the other day and I knew it would be perfect here too... He thought I would just use it for the obvious... He was right ~ my little bird needed a new nest! My room has become a disaster this summer but these two new treasures made me tidy up a bit... Although I did clear a spot on my table to make these sweet little packages (thanks Sandi for the idea!)...
I made them for my booth... I put them with my decoupaged dress forms in my little suitcase display... I still have the ones I got from Sandi in Vivienne's bath tub (he he)... That is an old photo ~ I sold that little wall hanging in my Etsy shop. I miss it there so I need to make a new one. I thought I would also show you a few things at the shop that are on my wish list... I love this little shelf made from old sewing machine drawers. It would be great in my craft room for storage or to display some inspiration pieces. I love this old glass cabinet too... I am thinking that it would make a great display case for my booth after it's makeover which I hope is before the holiday season! Well, it is still raining here so I am off to Faded Charm where Linda is hosting White Wednesday ~ she always brightens my day!! Happy White Wednesday to you and thanks for for visiting!!

jane muffet and peter and wendy...

Well, it has been raining since Sunday and probably will be right through tomorrow! I guess I should be happy ~ the rain has brought cooler temperatures. The last few weeks working at the shop on Tuesdays has been so hot and humid. I am looking forward to fluffing my space today and not feel like I am melting! I found some wonderful old books this weekend. Some are headed for my Etsy shop and some for my booth... John Martin's Big Book No. 10 published in 1926... is full of lessons for little ones, sweet stories as well as a bit of history too...
Did you know Miss Muffet's first name was Jane?!

Wonderful old story books...
They are in great condition for vintage books. They all belonged to "Corinne" who wrote her name inside each one. I love this cover... I noticed that in addition to the contents page of a book there would be a list of illustrations page too. As I browse through this beauty I don't know if I can part with it! How about a book with bedtime stories, you know before the Sand-man comes... After reading the Foreword it made me wonder if the stories are for bed time or not... I did pick up 19 books from The Bedtime Story Books collection. There were 20 in all... I am going to save these for my booth ~ the colors will be great for a Halloween display I am working on (and am very excited about)! This next book is probably in the worst shape with the hard cover coming loose. However the illustrations are so sweet...
Great as is or for altered art projects by all you creative ones out there! Now, this was the first book I picked... I quickly grabbed it for the colors ~ thought it would be perfect for a holiday vignette. Then I took a closer look...Sigh..."Peter and Wendy", first edition from 1911. Love the first illustration... I usually use Ebay and Etsy to do a little homework on the treasures I find. I nearly fell off my chair when I looked this one up on Ebay! I only paid 50 cents for each book!! Well, I am off to get a few things ready to take to the shop. I will be listing a few new things in my Etsy shop this week too. Thank you for taking time to visit and browse through these wonderful old books with me today. I am joining Linda over at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday. I think I did some nifty thrifting, don't you?!

peek in the window...

Thought I would just pop in and ask you to take a peek in the window ~ the front window at The Wrentham Country Store. Mary Ellen changed it up the other day and it looks fabulous... You know I love dreamy whites but I am also loving the colors in the chair and table. Wonderful shabby shades for the fall... Love the chippy headboard...Our local Fox station does a "Zip Trip" each Friday during the summer and highlights a local city or town. Wrentham was the destination a few weeks ago and Mary Ellen and the shop were featured! It was very exciting ~ if you would like to see it you can peek here (a peek at the candy from the Abby comes first, then the shop is next). The shop has been very, very busy lately ~ even before the shout out on Fox. The last few weeks that I have worked I haven't really got a chance to peek at all the wonderful new treasures that the other shop girls have been bringing in. I am busy with customers all afternoon then I have to leave right when the store closes to either drop off or pick up my son from here or there. I do not want summer to end but I am looking forward to being able to get in the shop on a day that I am not working and spend some time fluffing my little corner and hoping to find some new treasures for my nest. Thanks for stopping by today ~ hope you enjoyed a little peek in the window!
