vintage black treasures...

I love to participate in Show and Tell Friday hosted by Cindy of My Romantic Home. I love her new blog look! I recently discovered Vintage Black Friday hosted by French Cupboard which is held on the first Friday of each month. You know I am one who loves dreamy vintage whites but I do like to add in a few of my vintage black treasures for some interesting contrast. I learned how to feather my nest from the best, my Mom. This vintage black mink trimmed hat was hers...
Other than some tearing in the netting it is in wonderful vintage condition. I have one just like it in the shop but it doesn't have any netting. This vintage black fan was a find on one of Mom's treasure hunts...

It has seen better days though, when it is fully opened it is broken at the center and will just flip over...
I am sure I am probably responsible for most of the damage as I remember loving it as a child too, always opening it even though my Mom told me how delicate it was!
If you've been following my past musings (and thank you so much if you do!) you know how I love sweet vintage books...

Isn't this lovely! My Mom purchased this not only because it is lovely but because it is by H.S. Perkins...Perkins was her maiden name! It is full of wonderful aged pages of meaningful songs like how I feel about all you kindred spirits visiting and leaving such nice comments...
I'm so glad you stopped by...now go have fun and check out what Show and Tell Friday and Vintage Black Friday have waiting for you...hope to see you soon!

I love the contrast of black and white in your photos. And that hat is gorgeous - don't you wish women still wore them? I know I do!

Wonderful treasures. I love that hat! I love looking through my family's old photo albums and seeing all the great hats my grandma and mom used to wear.
The fan and book are wonderful too.

Oh my Gosh!!! Gorgeous stuff ~ that fan is incredible. It reminds me of the mourning fan that Scarlet used in Gone with the Wind at the dance. Probably has a great story behind it ~ thanks again and have a great weekend.

I especially love the fan. My mother had one too and I know us kids ruined it. It was nice then to see yours. I had posted by VBF post this morning, but just now realized that I hadn't linked up. So please be sure to stop on over for a visit and sorry for my late arrival to the party. thanks.
