suite departures...

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend!
I want to say thank you for all the wonderful comments that were left on my last post ~ you are all so sweet!
I am still celebrating!

It has been no secret that I have wanted to do a mini makeover in the princess suite.
Of course I wanted the room to stay clean for a while so I could actually tackle the project.
That never seemed to happen (hey, I'm keeping it real!).

Then, I finally realized that the furniture that was in the princess suite was actually making it hard for her to keep it clean!
She needed more drawer space so we went to Ikea and purchased a few bureaus for her room.
The princess and I love Ikea and we had a fun day shopping together!
The room is still a work in progress and I hope to share it with you soon.

For now I will show you what has departed the suite.
This lingerie chest is now patiently waiting for the white show at the shop...

The old cupboard is waiting for my Annie Sloan Chalk Paint makeover (yes, I finally bought some) and the vintage vanity has been safely stored in the attic for her very own first nest...

This old beauty is in my booth at the shop right now...

Just waiting for the next princess...

A few other small pieces have left her room as well, all headed for the white show.

Oh, and speaking again of my last post ~ have you entered my giveaway?
It ends today at midnight!

Thanks for visiting and have a great day!

not so tickled pink...

Ok...is it just me or do you start a project in one part of your house then jump to a different part of the house and start a whole different one?  Then you are going back and forth, and back and forth and neither one is getting finished then you go start a third?
I have been trying to finish off my kitchen and den mini makeovers (two rooms but really one project) then I started a project downstairs.  It needs a big purge, a deep cleaning, a coat of fresh paint on the walls and in the end all reorganized (heck, more than one project there but it is all project number two).  Now I have decided that the princess suite needs a makeover too ~ a mini makeover for now.  While I would love to change the wall color which I am not so tickled pink with anymore...
It will have to wait.  The princess is graduating from college this May (so, so proud!) and with her future unknown at this point no major makeover will be done.  However with the pinks and roses slowly disappearing from my nest her room seemed like the next place to start a purge (and a room that always needs cleaning!)...
I had these two paintings in her room but they were more me than her.  Well, they really aren't me anymore so they have gone to my booth.  Now while I love this bureau I found treasure hunting...
I am over it.  Off to my booth it will go.  I am replacing it with this...
A trash find (ssshhhh...don't tell her!).  It looks like this now...
I like it and so does she and it will fit into the future makeover I have in my mind for that room much better!  This photo was taken downstairs.  That rug is going soon and see the back wall...
Jim and I went to Home Depot yesterday and got some shelving to put up.  I need more storage for craft supplies, items I have on Etsy as well as small projects that await a makeover.  I am going to hide it all behind a drop cloth curtain.  Now if only I could sew...

I am joining Susan over at Between Naps On The Porch for her Metamorphosis Monday party.  Hmmm...I hope I don't get inspired to start a fourth project!!

For all you followers who remember I mentioned Friday that I would fill you all in on how I plan to celebrate my one year blog anniversary today, my apologies.  To be honest I had one of those weekends and did not get my thoughts put together yet.  So, please forgive me but I promise to get my act together by Wednesday!  It makes more sense for me anyway since this wonderful adventure began on White Wednesday almost a year ago!!

Have a great week!!

princess suite...

In honor of my girl finishing up her junior year in college and coming home this weekend I thought I would share with you the "princess suite" before the princess brings all her "stuff" home and the room does not look as sweet as I would like it. Hope you all like pink... Jac picked the color of her walls ~ it is a salmony pink ~ reminds me of the geraniums my Mom always use to get every year. I love the way these two rose paintings pop against the wall color... I found this cute cherub lamp on ebay and the lamp shade at a local consignment shop... Sweet little mirror that hangs atop the two rose paintings... Pretty pillow from Marshalls... She loves Audrey... I just recorded "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and am hoping to watch it together when she gets home. I love her vanity. It was a gift from my sister in law Christine when Jaclyn was little...I found this fabulous old syroco mirror at a yard sale for $2!! It was gold but it got a coat of dreamy white... These cute little blocks got a shabby makeover... When she was younger her room was covered in "Titanic" posters and pictures of Leo. My Mom bought her this little music box... I recently put this cabinet in her room for more storage. I am just looking for the time to give it a shabby makeover... Jaclyn loves mirrors just like her Mom ~ this one was from our beach cottage... I love this lingerie chest... But I love this bureau even more... Isn't it fabulous!! I found this beauty in New Bedford. I intended it for my booth but thought it would be perfect for the princess suite. Look at the roses... Don't you think they should make white televisions... This was from her sweet sixteen party... Beautiful then... Beautiful now... I've missed you Jac and am very happy you are coming home... I am joining Cindy at My Romantic Home for Show and Tell and am hoping to get in on the Pink Saturday fun that Beverly hosts over at How Sweet the Sound. Thank you all for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!!!
