makeover sneak peek...

I thought I would pop in today and share a little sneak peek of the makeover in my son's room that I have been working on.
I am blending a little industrial...

Cool vintage gas station number from the shop

With some wonderful reclaimed wood that my husband found curbside...

free

I shopped around my house and found a night stand...

yard sale find for $5

Then I shopped my booth and found a mirror...

thrifting find for $8

I am trying to keep the budget very low for this makeover.
I did pick up a few things at Ikea and Walmart.
I also used the rest of a gift certificate to Pottery Barn that I won in a giveaway for this sign...

free

I painted the walls gray, although they look on the blue side in the photos.  They do have a blue~ish tint during the day, but at night they are the dark gray I was going for.

I am hoping to finish up the last few projects like a headboard out of the old wood Jim brought home.
(Ok, I am waiting for Jim to finish that project.)
I need to find the perfect curtain rod and get some closet doors up too.
I am also waiting for Jake to come home on Thanksgiving break from school before I put anything up on the walls.
I like that he wants some input!

I am sharing with Linda at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday and Kristen at My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia for Tuesday's Treasures.

warming up for fall...

When I shared my new space at the shop with you the other day you might have seen my vintage sewing base table from my Paris Hotel Suite...

I tried to find a more recent picture of it in my bedroom but could not so here it is when I first shared the room with you back in April of 2010...

And here is a more recent photo...

I was ready for a change and thought this old bureau I picked up at a yard sale this summer for $10 would be the perfect fit...

The base color was perfect.
I just needed to sand the drawer fronts and lose the vintage decals and greenish tinge as well as the old varnish.
When I started to sand the decals, this is what I got...

The paper backing of the decal sort of left a silhouette and I liked it.
Well, real life called and when I got back to my project Jim did me a favor and finished sanding for me.
Yes, you guessed it, gone were the silhouettes.
He is always so helpful in my ventures that I did not have the heart to say anything.
So I added new clear knobs and decided to live with it for a while...

Not that this resembles any of her beautiful creations, but Dore inspired me to try this look...

Now I am not sure if I should sand the piece a bit more, especially the two top drawers...

Oh, and I painted my pink suitcases white...think they still need one more coat!

I do know that I picked the wrong knobs.
Can you say Anthropologie road trip?!!

I love the top...

The piece adds warmth to the room, just in time for Fall...

I think my suitcase stack needs to get a little higher!

I would love to know what you think...

And, if I decide I do not like it ~ I can always paint it white come Spring time!

Don't forget...I am having a Shabby Apple Giveaway!

christmas in july...

While I was nestled away in the pines of Plymouth last week enjoying some r and r, I squeezed in a junkin' day.
I found some wonderful treasures that I am saving.
Not for a rainy day.
And, unfortunately, not for myself either.
I am saving them for an upcoming event at the shop.
Ssshhh, don't tell anyone yet!

I will show you some things I am saving for my Christmas displays.
(No, this is not the upcoming event.)
I know, who wants to think of Christmas in July?
But, when I find something that reminds me of the holidays and the price is right, I buy it...

I just loved the old green tins with their hints of red...

I can wait for the visions of sugarplums but the vintage holiday vignettes are dancing in my head...

One find that I am bringing in the shop tomorrow is this sweet old farmhouse curio cabinet...

It is handmade and perfectly imperfect...

I am bringing some other pieces in tomorrow as well.
One is a makeover piece and one is a piece I made.
I am saving them for White Wednesday so I hope to see you then!

Today I am sharing with Linda for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday over at Coastal Charm.
I have not joined in over there for a while so I am off to see what's going on!

finds from the flea...

Hello!
Jim was on vacation last week so I took a little blog break myself.  We went to a flea market in Sandwich on Cape Cod last Wednesday.
Would you like to see some of my finds from the flea?
I knew you would...

Wouldn't this old can look great on a farmer's porch or in a garden?!

Do you love old silver pieces?  How about this one ~ from Texas...

This will be perfect for a display I am working on for the fall in my booth.
This pretty serving piece...

...was a freebie!
The vendor said he liked my smile ;)!

You know I love sweet vintage books...
This old beauty was only one dollar...

It is a keeper.
I might just keep this one too...
And this one...
They were only five bucks a piece!
I mean just look at the beautifully aged pages...
Some of the song titles made me giggle.
I figured out...
Because she said...
Hee Hee!!

I brought a few dolls home too...

I am sharing with Linda at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday.  I have missed joining in on all the fun over there!

Thank you for stopping by today ~ come back for a visit on Wednesday to see what else I found at the flea!!

hunting again...

Well I finally got a few days of thrifting under my belt.  With the nest purge in full swing it has been easy to feather my booth with "stuff".  While I have been happy shopping in my own home and creating new vignettes with existing treasures, my style change had me creating a new wish list so it was nice to go hunting again.  My farmhouse vision for my kitchen has spread to my den and is coming along quite nicely.  Although I am not ready to reveal the makeovers I will give you a peek at this beauty...
Ssshhhh...it was only $9.00!

I found these old spools at the shop as well as the sweet little tart pans...
3 spools and 8 tart pans for under $15!

I want to use them for candle holders but I think they look cute all tied up...
I found this great old oscillating fan that I was going to pair with the one on my inspiration hutch but I think I like it in my den...
$5...pretty cool don't you think!!

A little industrial and a little pop of blue...
And a little chipping ~ all equals perfection!  Now I did manage to find a few things to share like this old wall sconce that is in my Etsy shop...
Love all the details...

Then I picked up these 3 old prints that are part of a cottage series of 6...
I bought them for the frames.  I was going to paint them and make small chalkboards out of them or add a great image from the Graphics Fairy but the more I look at them I am not sure...

What would you do?  If you are interested in them let me know.  The frames are great...
I am joining Linda over at Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday where she is having a giveaway to celebrate 1000 followers!  Congratulations Linda and thank you for hosting today!  I am so happy you stopped by ~ have a great day!
