this old house...

Hi ~ are you still there?
It's been a while!
I am sure you are, because blogging friends are like that.
You can pop in at any time and pick up like you were just here yesterday!

In between all my summer fun, I really have been visiting to see what you all have been up to.
Which has led to pinning, pinning and more pinning, because you are all so inspiring!
Now I am not rushing the summer away, because I am having so much fun, but I have been making quite a long list of Fall and Winter makeover projects.
Being away so much in the summer and wondering what I am going to come home to with 2 kids at home and seeing nothing new around is making me a bit antsy to start some projects.
To make a long story short, this old house is looking, well, old.
But not in a good vintage old way, just old and tired.
So, I have been gathering some ideas to give my old nest a new look.
One of the projects is to do my master bedroom over.
I am going to say goodbye to my Paris Hotel Suite!
So, today as I was cleaning my room, I decided to edit it a bit and send some things along to my space at the shop.
The shop has been so very busy ever since the feature in Romantic Homes Magazine!

After putting away the clutter, taking away a few things I don't "love" anymore and moving a few other things around that I do "love", here is what I ended up with...

I only changed around this side of the room.  It is not much of a change, but it will do until the end of camping season!

What I would love for this room is dark wood floors with some scatter rugs, the perfect shade of gray on the walls (I'll keep the trim white) and some new pieces (maybe something industrial) mixed in with my favorite vintage ones.  Some new lighting and interesting art for the walls should round out the project.  I am also going to paint all the different bureaus to unify them (and get rid of the ugly orangey pine color).

If you'd like to see what it looked like before, you can see it here, and if you would like to see what it looked like when I first shared the room on my blog you can see it here.

Want to see what I have been pinning?  You can check out my Pinterest!

So glad you stopped by, have a great day!

I am feeling the same about my house. Sometimes you just need to freshen up things. I am working on my bedroom and have some ideas, but i have a husband who dislikes change. I am moving slowly with the bedding until I can approach him about moving the huge bookcases on one wall.

Glad you are back.

Nice changes, Sandi! Funny that you should ask what we're Pinning, because I'm pinning your fabulous shutter! I still haven't decided on a cutout design for our outdoor shutters, so I'm gathering all the ideas I can. Thanks for sharing!

Your room is beautiful. There's just something about white furniture that soothes the sole. I have so much furniture that needs painting, I'm afraid to even start.

Hidee! Yes, busy summer! Sounds like you have some exciting house changes coming up. Looking forward to seeing what you do. SO nice that your feature bumped things up!

Sandi,
This could be the start of something BIG, dear friend!!!
Receiving my new Ballard Design catalog today, they have an industrial bed. . .you should check it out!!!
When I first created the design for my creative space, Studio One, I nearly went with the industrial theme. Being on the lower level with concrete walls and the furnace duct work overhead, it suited the space, but it didn't match my inner desires of making cards with a Vintage Flair. . .so, I chose vintage instead. It has been a "good fit" for me.
I'm excited for you and your project list. . .I'll be waiting for updates and the Grand Finale!!!
Fondly,
Pat

I hear you, Sandi. I have been thinking (and rethinking) our master bedroom, too. I just feel like it is "just a room" because I am so used to it. I think your corner looks great and fresh and summery. Enjoy your time away-Fall will be here soon enough- xo Diana

Hi Sandi dear,
I spy something in your room I so need and that's the oversized comfy slipped chair, I could come for a visit, I won't take up to much room, I will plant myself in that comfy chair and we can sit and visit our Hearst away, talking about all the things that inspire our hearts.
You Sandi truly do not need any of my help! The beauty you create over here is just delightfully cottage charmed.

See you and your beauty soon :)

Xoxo

Ps. Thank you Alain for your beautiful visit.

I can see this is the beginning of a trend, Sandi! Love the changes you've made! Just beautiful! It's so much fun to shop-the-house and rearrange things once in a while, isn't it? ♥

What is it with us decorators who are never satisfied with a room for long? Refreshing always makes you feel better! Your ideas sound great. Enjoy every minute of summer.

Must be something in the air because I am feeling the same way about my old house. I do love my house, but it could use a $50,000 makeover any time now. If only I could find that darn money tree!! lol Love what you have done so far. I have lots of ideas...if they ever come to fruition. lol
Blessings~

I've been doing the same as you, not really posting this summer. I've also been puttering around with changing small corners in my house for a new look...it's only been 25 years...about time I would say! It's fun! I'm anxious to see what you come up with this fall and winter.
