vintage porch...

I have been enjoying seeing everyone's beautifully fall decorated porches, decks and outdoor vignettes.  I must admit I have slacked off this year.  I did not put my Halloween tombstones out front and there is not even a pumpkin on my front steps (no big white beauties to be found around here).  I did fill my little old black cauldron with the lovely mums my bff Lisa gave me for my birthday though.  (Happy Birthday to you Lisa!)  I have been so busy with my booth makeover that I just let it slip this year.  Thank goodness I feathered the inside of this nest in the beginning of the month!  Last Saturday before the shop opened I took some photos of some wonderful pieces that would be just perfect for some outdoor fall decorating, heck they would look great inside too!  Let's take a peek...

I would love this old park bench in my backyard up under the big old tree.  But I don't think the boys would appreciate moving it every time they had to mow the lawn.  Are you looking for an old ladder...

As you can see there are some wonderful old trunks and tool boxes too...
Maybe you need a pop of color...

Or a place to sit...

Maybe something from our salvage shed...

So much vintage inspiration in one place ~ I promise no excuses next year!  I am joining Debra over at Common Ground today for Vintage Inspiration Friday (thanks Debra!).  Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you all enjoy your weekend!

he was right...

It took a few days to give this desk it's makeover...
I spent Sunday sanding, painting, sanding and painting some more...

Seeing how beautiful it was coming out, I decided to keep it and switch it out with the table I have in my craft room.  After it was done I could not wait to get it in my room to see how it would look...

Jim kept telling me that he did not think it was big enough for all my projects.  Of course I thought he was wrong...

I envisioned the vintage typewriter on the desk too...
Of course I would not have it right in the middle, it would be off to the side with a cute vignette surrounding it...

As I stood there admiring my work, I realized, he was right...

Just look how much space I miss out on.  My table went from the wall to the little shelf.  I know I could put a lot of the things that I had on the table into the drawers but I still do not think there will be enough room.  I hate to admit it when he is right ~ but he is, this time...

So, sadly, off to the shop the desk will go.  I had this chair in the shop but brought it home to add some numbers...

I think they will look nice together in my booth...
As you can see, the wonderful white desk is out of my room and waiting to go in my booth.  Speaking of my booth, all the doors are ready and waiting for the makeover, which I hope will happen this weekend...

I am now searching for a spot to keep the old typewriter...
As much as I love it I really do not have the right spot in my nest for it.  So, sadly, it too will probably end up in my booth.  While I am not keeping these treasures I did find a spot for the vintage fan I found recently...

I nestled it in the hutch in my craft room among some of my favorite treasures.  The trestle table is back in there too, all cleaned up and ready for my next project...

I am joining Kathleen over at Faded Charm for White Wednesday.  I am hoping to have new booth photos for next week!!  Keep your fingers crossed and have a wonderful day!

hidden potential...

I know you see it...
You can't miss it...
Even my good friend Sue (thank you Sue and Cody) who thought of me when she found these in the trash saw it...

I know most of you are thinking Epcot right now but I am thinking hidden potential.  I admit, the Disney lover that I am thought Epcot at first too.  But after a closer inspection ~ the spheres are smooth ~ and did you see all that yummy detail?  A few coats of the perfect shade of white spray paint (suggestions welcome), a little sanding here and there and for the sphere (suggestions welcome again) perhaps a transfer or some (sheet music) decoupaging?  I do not even know if they work.  They are pretty big and would take up a lot of space in my booth so I might even take them apart and just makeover the black base and top.  As for the shades which are tattered and torn I was thinking I should just rip off the old and leave bare and the new owner would at least have the right size shade.  So, here I am today, on Nifty Thrifty Tuesday, with my curb side find, in makeover limbo.  I would love to hear what you think, and be honest!  Thank you Linda at Coastal Charm for hosting today and for featuring me as well...I am very honored!!

vintage typewriter...

Remember this french beauty...
Well I still have not painted it yet...
But I plan to this weekend while the fisherman is gone.  I really wanted it for the computer in my den but the guys say it is too small for them.  Then I was going to put it in my craft room (do I qualify to call it my studio?) but I need my big table to spread out my projects.  So I want to give it a shabby coat of white and have it in my booth for the Vintage Holiday Sale with this beauty on it...

I saw it the other day at the place I got my doors and it has been on my mind ever since.  I popped in yesterday and it was still there, just waiting for me...

Question is, am I going to be able to part with it...
Could you...

I am joining Debra over at Common Ground today for Vintage Inspiration Friday.  She knows how to throw a great party ~ thanks Debra!!

vintage chic...

Have you been picking up on my hints this week?  Like how I have been busy as a bee ~ and how I have been treasure hunting to feather my booth after it is made over?  Well, my patience with my fisherman has paid off.  Last Friday we picked up 7 vintage doors for two of the walls of my booth!  I am going to start with 2 and see how it looks...the other wall, which is old wood might just get a white wash and shelves added here and there.  Here is a look at what I have been up to...

I was lucky to find these two old beauties that went together ~ I plan on using these as the back wall.  I gave them a quick coat of primer...
I did not want them to look perfect at all and am loving the texture of the old varnish coming through...
Then I gave them a shabby coat of Behr's Bleached Linen...
I am very happy with the results!!  On to the next two...

I love the panels on these doors as well as the hardware...
Glad I remembered to flip the door before I did this...
I left the first two doors as is but wanted to add a vintage chic touch to the others...
I found this old sheet music a few weeks ago with this project in mind.  Some panels came out smooth, others did not, but I like it anyway...

I will be hanging treasures on these doors in my booth which will probably cover most of the panels but I figure some of it will peek out now and then and there will be something to look at when an item sells...
And speaking of selling items, I have been working on some new pieces for my new space...

I would like to either have a wall of words or mix them in among some vintage mirrors.  I am also working on some ornaments for the Vintage Holiday Sale at the shop...
I had boxes of these purple ornaments that I used to put in glass bowls in my bedroom before the Paris Hotel Suite makeover.  I found an old Italian~English dictionary at the shop and have been using the pages to decoupage them...

Now for the winner of my giveaway that started on...
I have been hinting a bit during this post.  It is the lovely and very creative Julie of A Vintage Chic!!  Congratulations!!  Big thanks to everyone who entered and to all of you who follow along, read my little musings and make blogging so much fun!!  I almost forgot ~ it is White Wednesday too ~ thank you Kathleen for hosting!!  Have a nice day!!
