sad faces made me happy...
Did this weekend fly by or what?! The weather here was not the best but I still managed to sneak in a yard sale and stopped by a consignment shop while I was camping in Plymouth this weekend. Would you like to take a peek at what I found...
I think these are so sweet! I am guessing that they were doors to some kind of cabinet. Look at the blue gingham fabric inserts...

The inserts are easily removed so today I think I will tuck them in around the nest here and there to see if they will stay or go to the shop. If they stay this may end up being my first sewing project ~ sorry ahead of time AJ for all the phone calls you might receive!! Here is a peek at what I found at the lone yard sale I went to ~ a beautiful Cornell pitcher adorned with gold roses...
I have never seen one of these prints before. It must be from a series as this one is marked "November". Of course after I bought it I saw quite a few other months in the consignment shop (priced much, much higher than what I scored this for)...
And here are the two sad faces that made me happy. How could this lovely young lady be sad when she is wearing the sweetest dress...
Look at this little one in the corner ~ do you think she got in trouble...
Too cute!! Well, that is what I found treasure hunting this weekend and I am sharing it all at Melinda's Vintage Summer Monday party over at Alabaster Rose Designs . Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I started my weekend with a fruity frozen drink with my girl Lisa which made me happy too (thanks girlfriend!)...
Thanks for stopping by today and have a great week!!

old tea wagon and wedding album...
Good Morning, it's Friday!! This was a short week but aren't they the longest ones sometimes?! Not only is it Friday but it is Vintage Black Friday over at The French Cupboard (thanks for hosting Jill)! Today I am going to share with you my Mom's old tea wagon. I remember her telling me she got it at an estate sale (when I was very little) and she had my brother Dave refinish it for her. Our house was very "country" growing up. She had a few pieces of black furniture as well as lots of other pieces with dark wood tones. The tea wagon done over fit in perfectly...
We had a cottage down the cape a few years ago and I used it for an end table. (Now there's another post for the future ~ and thanks for sharing yesterday ~ glad to know I am not the only one that has blog blockage!) I usually keep this downstairs and bring it up when I have a party or around the holidays to put desserts on. I used to have my old sewing machine table here but it is now in my Paris Hotel Suite. My husband needed a place to put his humidor that he recently bought so the tea wagon has been nesting here in the den. By the way they don't make white humidors and I told him I didn't mind having it out but make it either black or a dark wood tone ~ not that orangey wood. As you can see in the photo he listened well (not)! I am not a tea drinker so I do not have lovely old tea pots or pretty cups and saucers to display like so many of you do. Although I love this old tea wagon I just can't seem to feather it to my liking...
I sometimes look at it and want to paint it white (of course)...
But I just can't. My Mom wanted to paint it white too but it reminded her of my brother Dave because he refinished it and did a beautiful job...
And it reminds me of him too and how she loved the way it turned out. So the tea wagon will stay as is and nest in my den...for now. Since today is the VBF for June I thought I would also share some old photos from my Mom and Dad's wedding. They didn't get married in June (I did) but I thought you might like to take a peek inside their wedding album...
Look at all the beautiful lace! Wish I had all these dresses. My Mom looks so beautiful as well as my sweet Nana. The lovely lady on the right is my Auntie Joan, Mom's only sister. She has always been my favorite aunt ~ I remember weekends at her house when I was little and having so much fun. We still have fun when we are together! AJ ~ you are a big part of my heart and I love you! Look how dashing my Grandfather looks...
And now the happy couple...
I also wish I had their cake topper...
Now these next photos are not from my parent's wedding but of my Mom at a wedding...
Looking so happy and beautiful...
As I mentioned I was a June bride and we will be celebrating 25 years on the 22nd! I have been putting together a little "down memory lane" gift full of pictures and momentos. I don't know about your guy but Jim never gets excited about any gift, ever! So I am just "making" something. Do any of you amazingly crafty clever people have any ideas ~ I would love to hear them! Well, thank you for visiting today! I am also joining Cindy over at My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday. Thank you for hosting Cindy and don't forget to visit The French Cupboard too! Have a great weekend!!

being repetitive and a little bird...
I have to admit that sometimes I sit at the computer in the morning and wonder what to blog about, especially if it isn't one of the wonderful party days like White Wednesday or Vintage Black Friday (which by the way is tomorrow). I am not one to prepare a post the day before, I usually just put it all together in the early morning while everyone is preparing to head out the door. I do think of ideas as the days go by and jot them down but some mornings I draw a blank. I remember one morning laughing out loud at Anne's post when she had, um, writer's block (he he). So, this morning I looked through my photo gallery and looked around the house and came up with...nothing. I browsed through some of my past musings then I went to my dashboard to see what everyone else is blogging about. I then visited Gina at The Shabby Chic Cottage who hosts a wonderful party herself ~ Transformation Thursday and decided to show you again how my handy honey transformed our fireplace. Here is the before that I showed you the other day when I blogged about Jake...
Here is the after...
Jim built the mantel piece and I just painted the bricks. I found the two old shutters in a little shop along Route 6A on Cape Cod many years ago. I also transformed my blog header with a photo of the mantel...just with a few different accessories. More transformations around my house are popping into my head so I am looking forward to future fun at The Shabby Chic Cottage. I will share one more makeover that I did recently. Here is what my little table in the den looked like before...
And after...
I know I am being repetitive and that I already showed you the hydrangeas in my Mom's old crock before too (at Melinda's great Vintage Summer Monday party). It is an old original that looks just like the new repro crock in Pottery Barn. However the little bird is new, for me. Isn't he the sweetest little one! I put him in my Etsy shop but I think I am going to keep him for now. He was nesting on my mantle yesterday for a while...
Well...thanks for stopping by today. Nothing really that new or exciting but like I said yesterday, sometimes a little change makes a big difference to me. Remember that tomorrow is Vintage Black Friday and I do have something new and exciting planned. Well maybe not that exciting but it is new! Have a wonderful day and go have some fun over at Gina's Transformation Thursday party!

peaceful views and simple white changes...
I hope you all enjoyed your holiday weekend! We spent our time at the campground and had a wonderful time. I took my son out of school early on Friday to beat the traffic and Jim had the day off. We ended up spending the afternoon at the lake. It was so peaceful and we just about had the whole beach to ourselves...
The playground just waiting for friends...
Row boats all ready and fishing docks waiting for someones first catch of the season...
The cottage on the lake all ready to be rented...
By Friday night the campground was just about full ~ all my neighbors were there and the fun began. Thanks girls for all the laughs, I think my cheeks still hurt!!
I did not forget that it is White Wednesday ~ and it is a big one! Kathleen is celebrating the big 5 ~ 0 over at Faded Charm ! Congratulations Kathleen and here is to at least 50 more!!!
When I posted about my new white couch a few weeks ago I showed you the old shutter in the corner. I raised it a bit and thought this print might look pretty hanging on it...
The frame was originally gold ~ I gave it a warm coat of white...
Very sweet but not the look I was going for so it ended up in my Etsy shop. I liked this look better...
Simple sand dollars hung along some twine...
I like the way it looks near my glass bottles...
I am going to enjoy this for a while. I found some old tall windows recently and I think I might like one of them in the corner instead. I recently switched out a table in my Paris Hotel Suite too. Remember this pretty pale aqua side table...
I replaced it with this demi-lune table that I painted the same ivory color as the nightstand. I think the other table had more of a cottage look to it and this one fits in more with the french look I am going for...
I love the detail in the legs and it's petite size. What do you think? I have been looking for another place for the old table to nest in my house but I think it will end up in the shop. I am working on some other pieces in the same pale aqua and I want to try the new Behr paint/primer in the palest of pinks for some other treasures. I am hoping to work on my booth over the summer, giving it a new look and I think this combination will look great. Although you know there will still be some dreamy white pieces too. Well, just thought I would share a few simple white changes in my nest. Sometimes the little changes make a big difference to me. I hope you have a wonderful day and take a minute to say congrats to Kathleen on her special White Wednesday over at Faded Charm. This week is flying by and I am looking forward to this peaceful view real soon...
