inspiration hutch...

The lovely Cielo over at The house in the roses is hosting Show Off Your Cottage Monday.  I thought I would show you the hutch in my studio that I finally cleaned up after holidays.  I gave each shelf a little theme.  This one is dedicated to my Nana...
French was often spoken at my Nana's and that is where I learned my first french word...

So this vignette is "pour vous" Nana (Helen) Mary...
This next shelf is showing off the colors and textures that are inspiring me right now...

Pink is slowly disappearing from my nest ~ roses too.  These beautiful shades of blue are in my dried hydrangeas that I have been spreading around the house...
A flower frog from my collection holds my birthday and the pretty velvet ribbon in the little jar wrapped my gifts that I won from Maria's giveaway...
I am sure you all must know by now that Maria has finally opened her online shop.  I have my heart set on a few things already!  Last on this shelf (but not least) is the big ol' ball of twine my husband brought home last summer.  I tucked in a picture of my Mom when she was 14...
Love the rosy cheeks!!

Just because the pinks and roses are slowly disappearing around here does not mean it is easy.  I sort of gathered a few pieces from my studio that I am not ready to part with yet...
I love this little sugar bowl as well as the pink milk glass plate.  Vivienne still likes them too...
Thanks for letting me share my inspiration hutch today...
I am off to take a peek at all the other cottages over at The house in the roses.  I hope you all have a wonderful week!!

new finds and family treasures...

I must admit I am enjoying this clean and purge mode.  It leads most days right to rearrange and create.  Whether here at home or at the shop this new direction is very satisfying!  While working on Saturday at the shop I spied a few treasures.  Now I am really trying to not bring anything new into the nest (ha) but I could not pass these up and the price was right!  One of the projects on my winter list is my den.  You may remember this post when I showed you the room after a little makeover.  I have had this chair forever and love it but I think I need to find it a new place to nest...
Because this old beauty came home with me on Saturday...
Isn't she just sweet!  Look at her all chipped and perfect...

And at $12 I could not pass her up!!

Now beautiful as she is, I still had to dress her up a bit...

I am falling in love again with my dried hydrangeas and wished I clipped a few more this year...

Loving this little corner now...but wait...maybe just one more thing...

I adore these french market bags I got from Andrea's Etsy Shop!  While I like this old wood tote (that I painted a pale aqua)...

I wanted a change.  I had the perfect piece hiding away in my own little nest.  Why I haven't used this before is beyond me...
Please ignore the ugly outlet!

This was one of my Mom's baskets and it has been in my garage for a few years.  I love it...

Oh, and the next project for this room...
This great old table was my Mom's too.  She used to use it as a little kitchen island.  Of course I am painting it white ~ I think.  Right now she sits in front of the window enjoying the sunshine holding my other treasure from Saturday...
Another bargain at $8!!

Again, perfectly chipped and worn...

Oh, and just in case you were wondering what is in that old basket...

Jo-Anne Coletti's beautiful publication, "The Feminine Home".  I think the old french~farmhouse~cottage look I am going for is starting to slowly appear and is making me happy!  It also makes me happy to be using a few more family treasures.  I am linking up today with a new party (for me) ~ Show off your Cottage Monday over at The house in the roses as well as Coastal Charm's Nifty Thrifty Tuesday.  Thank you for visiting today and I hope you all have a wonderful week!!
