pinterest project...

After my glamping season ended last October, I began a mini makeover on our kitchen.
Of course, 3 months later I am still not finished, but I am so in love with our weekend project that I had to pop in and share it.
This corner of the room has seen a few different looks since I started this blog...

2010 and my shabby pink phase...

2011 (I still have this sign, I just moved it to another room)...

And now in 2015...

This was my inspiration that I found on Pinterest from
7th House on the Left...

My husband is so handy ~ didn't he do a great job!

Thanks Jim, I love them ~ and you!

Thanks for stopping by today and remember you can follow along with me on Facebook and Instagram as well!

help wanted...

After days of Spring cleaning the inevitable moving around and changing things up of "stuff" has begun.
I need some help in my kitchen though.
There is this one spot that I want to change but am looking for suggestions or inspiration on what to choose.
Take a peek...

See it...the "nest" sign in the frame...

I am looking for inspiration and want to replace both pieces...any suggestions?
I am happy with everything else...

I am also happy it is the weekend!!
So, let me know if you have any ideas for something new (or old) to replace these...

Thanks for visiting ~ have a great weekend!

a little white and a big thank you...

Good Morning ~ today I have just a few little whites from my kitchen to share for White Wednesday like this new flour canister I picked up at Pier 1 to match my oil and vinegar cruets... While I was in my kitchen I noticed the simple, wonderful white photo that August will be sharing all month... Some of the photos in this calendar have had too much color for me. This one is just perfect for this wall and ~ um ~ yes, I am still looking for a new phone... If anyone knows where I can get an old fashioned looking wall phone like the ones they used to have in Pottery Barn I would appreciate your help! Speaking of help, does anyone need help in leaving hints for your honey to bring home flowers? Having this might work... Some guys just have to be told what to do!! Now I would like to say a big, belated "Thank You" to Jo-Anne Coletti of Vintage Rose Collection. I won a giveaway that Small Town Living was having and the prize was a collection of her note cards and postcards! When it arrived I hated to open the pretty package... It was just full of beautiful cards ~ images from her inspiring artwork and photos...
I think this one is my favorite... Just look at the back ~ too pretty to write on... I am on the hunt for the perfect vintage or vintage inspired frames so I can hang a few around my nest. Some will go right up on my inspiration board (which is still in my head until Jim makes me one) along with the angel wings and sparkly 3. Thank you so much Jo-Anne! In Jo-Anne's boutique you can find all this lovely stationary as well her original artwork and vintage finds. I wonder, with everyone browsing her boutique and looking at all the treasures over at Faded Charm for White Wednesday, will anyone get anything done today?!

white wednesday in my kitchen...

Good Morning! Kathleen over at Faded Charm is hosting White Wednesday and today I thought I would show you a few whites from my kitchen... This crown canister is from Homegoods and the plate was my Mom's. Look at the wonderful detail in the plate... Do any of you shop at Pier One? I think the store has changed so much over the years but every once in a while I pop in. I found these last summer... My Mom had quite a collection of roosters in her kitchen. I kept a few which I have in my downstairs kitchen. I occasionally bring this one up... He sits next to my recipe box... Old McCoy pottery... Cute little drawer pull... The flowers from my weekend party are still looking beautiful...
Thank you Kathleen for hosting today! Before you go and check out all the other dreamy whites take a moment and visit Paula over at Castle and Cottage ~ she is having a giveaway!! I will be keeping my fingers crossed ~ although I did buy one of Paula's signs for my kitchen... Well, thank you all for stopping by for White Wednesday in my kitchen!

back to the bakery...

Remember this beautiful sign I got from Paula's Etsy shop, Castle & Cottage...
I thought some of my Mom's milk glass plates might look nice underneath but was afraid to commit... This weekend while working at the shop a customer bought the sweetest little plate... I was thinking as I wrapped it to go how lovely it is and can't believe I didn't spy it first! I quickly went over to the booth where it came from and believe it or not there was another one! So yesterday I looked for the perfect place for it to nest and look where it ended up...

I think it was meant to be! I read a lovely blog post the other day about rhubarb being the name of a color...somewhere in between pink and red. I can't believe I didn't bookmark the blog, it was so fabulous!! Well I am going to call the border flowers on this plate not pink, not red but rhubarb! Now I would just like to find the perfect little treasure to hang above my framed scrapbook paper... I would also like to find some lighter curtains for spring and summer to replace these that my Mom made...
While the pattern is full of soft roses the fabric is a bit heavy looking. Maybe I will find some when I finally get to Ikea to get another pair of drapes for my den.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I am joining in on the fun over at Metamorphosis Monday hosted by Susan of Between Naps on the Porch for the first time. Please take a few minutes to check out all the wonderful before and afters...have fun!!

filling in the blank...

Do you all hesitate like I do when it comes to making a commitment to actually hang something on a wall? Especially after a new coat of paint goes on? I gave my little old kitchen a fresh coat of paint after Christmas...2008...and still haven't finished hanging things on all the wall space. It went from sage green walls to beautiful blue. You might remember from a past post that I love mirrors so I knew I would definitely hang one to reflect more light and found this amazing vintage medicine cabinet mirror.

Of course I couldn't have just one mirror! I found this one while treasure hunting. It was originally gold but knew it would look better in a dreamy vintage white...

Look how sweet this little tray is!!

I bought this on Ebay...hand painted by 4wits-end. Her work is amazing!! Then I framed a lovely vintage looking piece of scrapbooking paper in an old frame that I painted white then lightly distressed.
Still looking for a little something to put over it, which needs to be just right. I purchased this old frame on Ebay, painted it white and had my husband add wood so I could make a chalkboard for messages ~ 19 days til Spring!

I found this beautiful calender at Michaels for a buck!

I'd love to find one of those old style phones for the wall that Pottery Barn used to sell. I think they only have desktop ones available now.

As you can see there was still a big empty space...

Until Friday's mail came...

Isn't it spectacular! It's from the very talented Paula at Castle and Cottage. I finally committed and am so glad I did!!

Pa-tis-se-rie...noun ~ A bakery specializing in French pastry. My family thinks it is funny because I am so not a baker!

I was going to hang some milk glass plates underneath but thought it might be too much or maybe I just can't commit yet!
