dried hydrangeas...

One of my new finds from back in June finally found the perfect nesting space, well for now at least...

Love this big old white canister full of my dried hydrangeas...

I am not sure about the lamp anymore though.
I think I would like one a little more cottagey looking instead of this french look...

Any suggestions...

I knew the time would come...

I am sure you all, or should I say y'all, have been seeing the posts from the girls who are all loaded up and heading to Texas for the big shows.  It has been exciting to see their sneak peeks of some of the wonderful treasures that they have been rounding up for their displays.

Seriously, I do not know how they part with some of those fabulous pieces!!  As I am preparing for our event I knew the time would come when I just could not part with a treasure (or two)...
I have been scooping up old clocks here and there for my display.  When I received a box lot from an auction I won I just could not part with this little beauty...
Now I need two more to start a collection...
I have also been busy decoupaging more eggs for my booth...
And I am working on some for the event too.

I wish I took a before photo of this old frame.  It was an antiqued gold...
I love it white...
Thank you Sandi for my sweet little nest!

The details are so pretty!
It is so pretty that I can not part with it...
I knew the time would come!

horseshoe hill and a giveaway...

This morning I decided to show you the little makeover I have been working on in my kitchen.  Now it is not quite done yet as I still have a few spots to fill but who knows when I will find the right treasure and I could not wait anymore.  So come on in and take a peek...
The sun was shining brightly on Monday...snow today!

Now I did not have to paint or do the floor nor did I need a new table.  I just wanted to take away all the pink and roses from here and give it a french farmhouse touch.  This big old wooden bowl (do you call it a dough boy?) was my Mom's and it looks great on the beautiful runner I won from Maria...

I usually have the bowl filled with fruit or vegetables but I have not been to the market yet this week.
I found this small old ladder a while ago and finally found the perfect spot...
Then I added one of the french market totes from Andrea...
Yes I have one with a blue stripe in my den!

This is how one wall used to look...
You might remember I moved the square mirror to the little hall outside my bath but the big mirror stayed...
I love this frame but the paper inside, not so much anymore...
So I changed out the paper, moved a few things around added one of my vintage beadboard signs and an old treasure that I found...
Hey, that rhymed!

I just love this old piece, does anyone know what it is...
You can see the new piece of scrapbook paper I put in the frame...
See inside the mirror?  My beautiful sign from Castle and Cottage...
As much as I love this sign I wanted a change.  So I got in touch with Paula and asked her if she could personalize a sign for me.  I told her I wanted it to be the same size with a white background.  I also wanted it to be "farmhouse style"...
After a few days of trying to come up with the perfect sign for my home I finally decided on this...
My family has been seasonal camping at Pinewood Lodge Campground for almost 15 years.  Our site has always been on Horseshoe Hill.  Jim and I were married in 1985.  Paula put it all together perfectly...

I kept my little birds and I just moved my chalkboard over a bit...
Which leaves me this space to fill in...

Yes I am still looking for one of those old fashioned looking phones that PB used to sell.
Now here is an area where I am on the fence...
I got my calendar from Vintage Rescue Squad!

I would love to take these two doors off the cabinets and have that great open shelf look...
Can't quite talk the mister into it...yet!

I was going to change out the curtains for some with a ticking stripe or burlap perhaps but these hung in my Mom's kitchen (she made them) and I just love the fabric...

While this makeover might not be a huge change...
I just love it!  Especially my new sign (thank you so much Paula!)...
And in honor of my One Year Blog Anniversary I am going to give away one of Paula's signs!!  She graciously agreed to personalize a sign just like this for the winner of my giveaway that begins today and ends at midnight February 9th with the winner announced on February 10th (my blog anniversary)!!

I am going to keep it simple.  All you have to do is leave a comment on this post to be entered to win!

Oh and I am going to mail you a few little surprises too!

under the weather...

With more snow yesterday I decided to make it a day to get some projects done.

I have been under the weather lately with a sinus infection and the antibiotics make me so tired.  I also have Vertigo which makes me not want to do anything.  I took my time and got a few things done but then the stomach bug hit me.  Shouldn't you only have to have one kind of sickness at a time...geesh!!

I was supposed to go to a shop meeting last night about a wonderful white event that we will be having in April.  I will get all the details when I work this weekend and share them with you soon.

I also wanted to work on some Valentine vignettes around my nest.  This is how far I got...
Mercury Glass and Rust...a girl's best friend!

Since you were kind enough to listen to me complain about being under the weather here is a little peek into my den makeover...
I said just a little peek!

The only thing I know for sure about today is that there is more snow on the way ~ maybe another 10 inches!  So this came just in time...
Thank you Carole!

If you are looking for me today I will be in my favorite spot in my house...
 My big comfy white chair!

new suite vignette...

My master bedroom, or my Paris Hotel Suite as I like to call it was the first room that I started my new year purge in.  The table next to my big comfy white chair used to look like this...
I kept a few treasures like my Marie clock base...
And shopped my nest for some new treasures.  I used one of the candle holders I made from the old lamp parts...
And I paired it with my vintage trophy ~ champagne bucket.  It is a hotel suite after all...
I filled the bucket with some silk white hydrangeas...
And of course some sheet music...

I love this new vignette...
As you can see the old frame that I painted white stayed...
I just switched out the clock for one of my favorite mirrors...
No natural light yesterday because it snowed...again!  I took a lot of photos with all the lights on and some with only a few on.  And with so many mirrors so close to each other I had some fun...
Light off
Light on

I am debating on whether to change out the lamp or maybe just a different shade...
This is the spot where I relax at night and catch up on my favorite blogs and discover new ones...
Especially when Jake is practicing his drums in the downstairs living room, right under the upstairs living room!

Thanks for stopping by today to see my new suite vignette.  Of course I am joining Kathleen at Faded Charm for White Wednesday but I am also joining Sarah of A Beach Cottage for her new party Good Life Wednesdays!  Today should be quite an inspiring day!!
