brimfield 2012...

Well, I made it to Brimfield and saw some gorgeous stuff!
Take a peek at this booth (I never got their names but they were a nice couple from Maryland)...

I would have loved this headboard for my Paris Hotel Suite...

But it was so expensive!
I thought the prices were very high throughout the fields (my husband was in shock)!

Corabelle Rose's space is always a treat to walk through...

There were lots of letters to be found.
I really wanted some of these...

We were there by 8 am and despite the weather it was very, very crowded.  As we walked through many booths there were piles of items in the corners with sold tags on them like this wonderful old sign in Jackie's Bliss Farm Antiques booth...

I did not get as many photos as I would have liked.
Lots of vendors said no when I asked to take a picture and the weather was a bit on the drizzly side too.
Sometimes I just got lost in thought as I wandered around.
Then as I left a field and was walking down the main road I could not believe my eyes.  Rachel Ashwell was walking toward me!
I was absolutely star struck!
I said "Hi Rachel!!" ~ she looked around to see who spoke and then she said in her wonderful British accent with a smile, "Oh, Hello!".
I kept walking with my heart beating so fast and turned to Jim who had the biggest smile on his face and then he asked why I didn't ask for a photo!
I was just so caught off guard that I did not even think of it.
It was a true pixie dust moment for me!

Jim and I met up with Mary Ellen for lunch and then hit a few more fields together afterwards.
As we were walking Mary Ellen noticed Bronson Pinchot!!
I was not going to let this opportunity pass me by...

He and his crew were so friendly and funny!  They told us they were currently filming the first episode of their second season of The Bronson Pinchot Project right in Brimfield!

Mary Ellen and I were like giddy school girls for the rest of the afternoon!

I did manage to find a few treasures to bring home with me like this beautiful old portrait from the 70s...

A few pieces to satisfy my industrial craving...

Not sure what I am going to do with these yet...

I love this old mirror frame and might add some screening and make an earring holder for Jaclyn...

These are my favorite finds...

Sweet little french book...

Love the cover of this arithmetic book...

And a few old zinc pots...

Last but not least are these old fence tops...

Personally this is not a venue for this shop girl to find many things to add to her booth.  It is rather a place to find something for myself.
Although we did see a booth or two with a few treasures from The Wrentham Country Store for sale!
They know where to get some vintage goodies at a great price!

I am sharing my Brimfield adventure with Debra for

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting!

I almost forgot...congratulations to Sandy from For The Love Of White ~ email me your address and I can mail off your copy of Romantic Prairie magazine!

in my kitchen on white wednesday...

When I showed you earlier this year the book (Pale and Interesting) that my son gave me for Christmas, I shared this inspiring photo from it...

I wanted to add a little collection like this to my kitchen.
I knew there was a set of mother of pearl handled knives at the shop and went back and forth with myself if I should buy them or not.
But then I remembered I had some pretty vintage knives already...

They have the most beautifully detailed handles...

I feel like I achieved a similar look to the inspiration I took from the book, so I am happy!

And I saved money...but then I spent it at the shop on something else.
Tune in Friday to see what it is!.

I also forgot to show you the tulips I bought for myself...

I bought one big bunch and put them on my kitchen table...

I am sharing today with Kathleen for

vintage with a view...

I love Pinterest.
I also love when I find a photo that needs me to start a new board.
That is what happened when I found this beautiful picture a few weeks ago...

I created the board "vintage with a view" once I saw this breath taking photo on Faye's blog, Wild Rose Vintage.
Shortly after, I pinned another fabulous shot from her...

Absolutely stunning, don't you agree?!

Faye is the winner of my Uprint giveaway ~ congratulations!!
Either of those photos would make wonderful postcards!!

Sorry I am a little late announcing the winner.
The princess and I went shopping for the day yesterday and she took me out for a belated birthday lunch ~ thanks Jaclyn!!

Thank you all for stopping by today!
It is still October and we are in for a snow storm this afternoon.
This is no treat...a trick for sure!!

waterfront and lakehouse...

It was a beautiful day here in New England!
Mary Ellen and I had lots of fun treasure hunting in New Bedford today.  It was so nice out we even had lunch by the waterfront (at the Waterfront Grille to be exact)...

New Bedford is nicknamed "The Whaling City" because during the 19th century it was one of the most important whaling ports in the world.
Jim and I have eaten at this restaurant a few times while treasure hunting.  He loves looking at all these old fishing boats.
He has not named his own boat yet.
I took this photo to let him know this name is taken...

Well, I have covered the waterfront part from my title.
What does lakehouse have to do with this post you may be wondering?
Well Debbie from the Lakehouse is the winner of my giveaway!
Congrats Debbie ~ email me your address!

Thank you everyone for entering and for visiting today.
Enjoy your weekend!!

still dreaming in vintage whites...

It was one year ago today that I sat down and started this wonderful adventure of blogging.  I posted my first photo...
And shared my first thoughts...

Well...I finally did it! I've been wanting to start my own blog for quite a while. I sit at my computer every morning with my coffee (and, yes, many other times during the day too), "meeting" so many creative people, reading their thoughtful posts and looking at their beautiful photos, all while learning, laughing and becoming totally inspired. I've waited long enough to join in on all the fun!

I have met so many wonderful people through their thoughtful posts that I now call friends.  Thank you for your friendship!  I am amazed everyday at the beautiful photos you all share ~ and they just get better every day.  I am challenging myself to take better pictures and thank you for all the tips that you share!  Thank you for all the great tutorials for so many craft projects and painting techniques as well as wonderful recipes and favorite treasure hunting spots.  Thank you for all the laughs that sometimes had me in tears.  There were sad tears too, reminding me that you are all real people, just like me, living life one day at a time.  Hey, that is what friends are for ~ being there for the good times as well as the bad.  Thank you for sharing your homes, your family ~ your heart and soul.  You have inspired me to chase my dreams and to never give up!
Thank you all so much!!

Now for the winner of my giveaway (drum roll please)...

I want to say thank you very much to all my friends and followers who stop by and leave me kind comments and words of encouragement.  My heart is truly touched by your friendship!  A little love goes a long way...
And while my life and nest have seen many changes this past year, I am still dreaming in vintage whites!

vintage chic...

Have you been picking up on my hints this week?  Like how I have been busy as a bee ~ and how I have been treasure hunting to feather my booth after it is made over?  Well, my patience with my fisherman has paid off.  Last Friday we picked up 7 vintage doors for two of the walls of my booth!  I am going to start with 2 and see how it looks...the other wall, which is old wood might just get a white wash and shelves added here and there.  Here is a look at what I have been up to...

I was lucky to find these two old beauties that went together ~ I plan on using these as the back wall.  I gave them a quick coat of primer...
I did not want them to look perfect at all and am loving the texture of the old varnish coming through...
Then I gave them a shabby coat of Behr's Bleached Linen...
I am very happy with the results!!  On to the next two...

I love the panels on these doors as well as the hardware...
Glad I remembered to flip the door before I did this...
I left the first two doors as is but wanted to add a vintage chic touch to the others...
I found this old sheet music a few weeks ago with this project in mind.  Some panels came out smooth, others did not, but I like it anyway...

I will be hanging treasures on these doors in my booth which will probably cover most of the panels but I figure some of it will peek out now and then and there will be something to look at when an item sells...
And speaking of selling items, I have been working on some new pieces for my new space...

I would like to either have a wall of words or mix them in among some vintage mirrors.  I am also working on some ornaments for the Vintage Holiday Sale at the shop...
I had boxes of these purple ornaments that I used to put in glass bowls in my bedroom before the Paris Hotel Suite makeover.  I found an old Italian~English dictionary at the shop and have been using the pages to decoupage them...

Now for the winner of my giveaway that started on...
I have been hinting a bit during this post.  It is the lovely and very creative Julie of A Vintage Chic!!  Congratulations!!  Big thanks to everyone who entered and to all of you who follow along, read my little musings and make blogging so much fun!!  I almost forgot ~ it is White Wednesday too ~ thank you Kathleen for hosting!!  Have a nice day!!
