favorite whites of 2012...

I thought for my first white post of 2013, I would share my favorite whites of 2012 with you.

In January I gave a vintage hamper a makeover...

In February I put together some new simple vignettes in my home...

March brought great news for Jake and his college search...

April was all about the At Home With White Show at the shop...

In May, for Mother's Day I got the sweetest gift from my daughter...

June was a month full of celebrations...

And July had me painting yard sale finds...

August was a month full of treasure hunting for myself and for a bigger space at the shop...

September was a busy month of makeovers...

I found a unique way to display pumpkins in October...

And in November I shared my JDL inspired advent calendar...

For December I tried to keep the holidays simple...

Here's to a new year full of white inspiration!

hello 2013...

Hello 2013!

I decided to treat myself for the new year and keep a recent estate sale vintage find.

Sshh ~ don't tell Jim, he probably won't even notice...

The estate sale was a few doors down from my house...

I was one of the first people there and started buying things left and right...

The prices were amazing and I purchased quite a few large pieces...

The dining room was the last room I went in and when I saw this beautiful old chandelier I wanted it...

The price tag...$20!!!

Can you blame me for keeping it?

It is in wonderful condition and has all the fabulous crystal prisms.

I love the way it looks in my studio...

At some point I am going to have to tell Jim though.

I need his help wiring it up...

I will probably wait until I clear out the downstairs and bring the other pieces from the estate sale into the shop like this wonderful shabby old chair...

I love the fabric, it reminds me of our den growing up...

I also bought the matching 8 foot couch!

Although I did buy a cute pair of matching lamps that I brought right in the shop after the sale and sold them to Mary Ellen.

She used them in her living room makeover that she shared a few photos of on her blog.

I was lucky enough to see it in person and took some photos to share with you soon.

Oh...and I did keep another piece from the estate sale too for my Paris Hotel Suite.  I switched it out with another piece to make room for it and already sold the old one at the shop!

I will share the new look soon too.

For now, I am happy with my new chandelier...

I want to thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers for our friends who lost their home in a fire on Christmas Eve, I knew I could count on you!

I hope your Christmas day was Merry...

We found out Christmas morning that our best friend's home caught fire on Christmas Eve.  Everyone is safe and nobody was hurt.

Even their sweet cat Lovey was saved.

Thank you God.

Coming together with our other great friends a few days later to help them salvage what they could, was a day I won't soon forget.

Unfortunately, they lost pretty much everything.

Seeing their strength as they sifted through the mess was amazing.

Through the tears, a few smiles and the sound of laughter began to appear.

As well as the positives.

They still have each other.

And the rest of it is just stuff.

My wish is that their good memories will keep them strong and help them through.

The rebuilding will begin and that time will help them heal...

Hoping they are all nested in their new home way before next Christmas.

I reminded her of just how much fun all us girls will have this summer spending time together vintage treasure hunting again to help her feather her new nest!
