looking back and keepers...

Good Morning!  I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!!

I had a busy weekend that included more purging, painting, cleaning and organizing.  My downstairs project made some great headway yesterday with the painting getting finished in one area and the shelving units all installed (thanks Jim!).  Today I am hoping to put the space back together, tidy it up and get a bit organized.

On Saturday my booth received a few recent pink~rose purges from my nest...

I have had these for a few years and have enjoyed them around my  nest...

I seem to only use these two in the same spot and I have already put my vignette together here for Valentine's Day and I did not use either one.  The next treasure that will soon leave my nest is this one...

While I love it, especially the frame, it just does not seem to fit in around here to me anymore.  I thought about taking the painting out and keeping the frame but I think they belong together.  Now I just need to find the right replacement which will most likely be a mirror (or two or three).

Now while most of the pinks and roses are disappearing around here, there are a few keepers like this mirror...

I couldn't decide which photo I liked best!

I love the subtle detail...
I found the most pink in my Paris hotel suite.  My pink suitcases...
My bedside clock with the sweet plaque on the top...

And my sentimental favorite ~ my Pink Pin Money Bank...
I sure did not think I would have a post so full of pinks and roses anymore!  I guess I have just been doing a bit of reminiscing since my One Year Blog Anniversary is coming up this week!  Have you entered my giveaway yet?  If not, hurry up, it ends Wednesday at midnight!

I am joining The house in the roses for Show Off Your Cottage Monday.  Thank you for hosting Cielo!

Oh, and by the way, did Sam Elliot make any of you football fans smile yesterday too?

gift of time...

Time flies.
Especially when you are busy or having fun!

Time goes by so fast.
I remember my parents always saying that.
I realize it now too.

When you know someone is so busy and takes the time to think of you and create something so special, just for you ~ it is the perfect gift.

Let me show you what I mean...

Pretty wonderful isn't it...

Such a thoughtful gift and from the heart...
Even the back is beautiful...
Thank you so much Jodie for your gift of time...
You are in my heart and I will treasure this always!

It is Vintage Inspiration Friday today over at Common Ground where Debra is sharing her beautiful Valentine Sunroom!  Next Friday she is inviting us all to her Vintage Valentine Party...
Jim and I have been married for 25 1/2 years but we have been together for almost 33 years.  Does that make us Vintage Valentines?

Thank you all so much for stopping by today and don't forget to enter my giveaway!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!!

horseshoe hill and a giveaway...

This morning I decided to show you the little makeover I have been working on in my kitchen.  Now it is not quite done yet as I still have a few spots to fill but who knows when I will find the right treasure and I could not wait anymore.  So come on in and take a peek...
The sun was shining brightly on Monday...snow today!

Now I did not have to paint or do the floor nor did I need a new table.  I just wanted to take away all the pink and roses from here and give it a french farmhouse touch.  This big old wooden bowl (do you call it a dough boy?) was my Mom's and it looks great on the beautiful runner I won from Maria...

I usually have the bowl filled with fruit or vegetables but I have not been to the market yet this week.
I found this small old ladder a while ago and finally found the perfect spot...
Then I added one of the french market totes from Andrea...
Yes I have one with a blue stripe in my den!

This is how one wall used to look...
You might remember I moved the square mirror to the little hall outside my bath but the big mirror stayed...
I love this frame but the paper inside, not so much anymore...
So I changed out the paper, moved a few things around added one of my vintage beadboard signs and an old treasure that I found...
Hey, that rhymed!

I just love this old piece, does anyone know what it is...
You can see the new piece of scrapbook paper I put in the frame...
See inside the mirror?  My beautiful sign from Castle and Cottage...
As much as I love this sign I wanted a change.  So I got in touch with Paula and asked her if she could personalize a sign for me.  I told her I wanted it to be the same size with a white background.  I also wanted it to be "farmhouse style"...
After a few days of trying to come up with the perfect sign for my home I finally decided on this...
My family has been seasonal camping at Pinewood Lodge Campground for almost 15 years.  Our site has always been on Horseshoe Hill.  Jim and I were married in 1985.  Paula put it all together perfectly...

I kept my little birds and I just moved my chalkboard over a bit...
Which leaves me this space to fill in...

Yes I am still looking for one of those old fashioned looking phones that PB used to sell.
Now here is an area where I am on the fence...
I got my calendar from Vintage Rescue Squad!

I would love to take these two doors off the cabinets and have that great open shelf look...
Can't quite talk the mister into it...yet!

I was going to change out the curtains for some with a ticking stripe or burlap perhaps but these hung in my Mom's kitchen (she made them) and I just love the fabric...

While this makeover might not be a huge change...
I just love it!  Especially my new sign (thank you so much Paula!)...
And in honor of my One Year Blog Anniversary I am going to give away one of Paula's signs!!  She graciously agreed to personalize a sign just like this for the winner of my giveaway that begins today and ends at midnight February 9th with the winner announced on February 10th (my blog anniversary)!!

I am going to keep it simple.  All you have to do is leave a comment on this post to be entered to win!

Oh and I am going to mail you a few little surprises too!

I am joining Kathleen for White Wednesday (and boy is it really white here in Massachusetts) as well as Sarah for Good Life Wednesday.  Thank you ladies for hosting and thank you all for stopping by!

not so tickled pink...

Ok...is it just me or do you start a project in one part of your house then jump to a different part of the house and start a whole different one?  Then you are going back and forth, and back and forth and neither one is getting finished then you go start a third?
I have been trying to finish off my kitchen and den mini makeovers (two rooms but really one project) then I started a project downstairs.  It needs a big purge, a deep cleaning, a coat of fresh paint on the walls and in the end all reorganized (heck, more than one project there but it is all project number two).  Now I have decided that the princess suite needs a makeover too ~ a mini makeover for now.  While I would love to change the wall color which I am not so tickled pink with anymore...
It will have to wait.  The princess is graduating from college this May (so, so proud!) and with her future unknown at this point no major makeover will be done.  However with the pinks and roses slowly disappearing from my nest her room seemed like the next place to start a purge (and a room that always needs cleaning!)...
I had these two paintings in her room but they were more me than her.  Well, they really aren't me anymore so they have gone to my booth.  Now while I love this bureau I found treasure hunting...
I am over it.  Off to my booth it will go.  I am replacing it with this...
A trash find (ssshhhh...don't tell her!).  It looks like this now...
I like it and so does she and it will fit into the future makeover I have in my mind for that room much better!  This photo was taken downstairs.  That rug is going soon and see the back wall...
Jim and I went to Home Depot yesterday and got some shelving to put up.  I need more storage for craft supplies, items I have on Etsy as well as small projects that await a makeover.  I am going to hide it all behind a drop cloth curtain.  Now if only I could sew...

I am joining Susan over at Between Naps On The Porch for her Metamorphosis Monday party.  Hmmm...I hope I don't get inspired to start a fourth project!!

For all you followers who remember I mentioned Friday that I would fill you all in on how I plan to celebrate my one year blog anniversary today, my apologies.  To be honest I had one of those weekends and did not get my thoughts put together yet.  So, please forgive me but I promise to get my act together by Wednesday!  It makes more sense for me anyway since this wonderful adventure began on White Wednesday almost a year ago!!

Have a great week!!
