Hello!
For White Wednesday this week, I thought I would share with you my second completed project of the year!
And it is still only January!!
First let me show you a before picture from last May...
This is in my living room and while I love the mirror over the chair I was not loving the vignette on the dry sink and was looking for another mirror to hang over it.
Treasure hunting late in the summer led me to this old beauty...
I knew I wanted to paint this mirror, but I procrastinated and before I knew it, the holiday rush was on.
This became new year project number two...
Did you notice that I painted the top of the dry sink too...
Here is the before again...
After I was done, I was mad that I waited so long to paint it!
Even the print on the chair does not seem to bug me as much anymore...
The dry sink was actually project two A.
I still need to put another coat on, distress it a bit then put a coat of wax on the top.
Makes me wonder why I did not paint the whole thing in the beginning!
Now I just need to find the perfect treasures to display here...
I am thinking something wooden or natural to tie in with similar pieces I have in the room like this...
Old photo from last Fall.
Any suggestions?
I would love to hear from you!
Oh, and by the way, Google Chrome solved my comment problems!

Thank you so much for stopping by ~ I am off to get inspired over at Faded Charm!
I'm thinking that the sky is the limit on what you could display here because of how unified the background is now. I'm always thinking I want a place in my house for a revolving display. Your spot would be perfect for it. Great job!
ReplyDeleteI like your new all white look. I also like the old sewing drawer. I think mixing the painted white with a little natural wood can be so pretty. Add a stack of your vintage books and an old clock! Maybe?
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Faye
white just makes everything better doesn't it? :) How about some of your old vintage books that echo the colors in that print chair....
ReplyDeletegosh, isn't white paint great! it looks so unified and light and airy after all your hard work! I'm sure whatever accessories you choose will be just perfect!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference! Both mirrors are fantastic ... keep whipping out those projects, January's not over yet ; )

Love it white--looks great! You are right--it even makes the chair look better.
ReplyDeleteOh, your transformation looks fabulous Sandi! I always think 'why did I wait so long?' after I've painted something.
ReplyDeleteI like your idea of a natural/wood element on the dry sink. Maybe an old wood tool caddy that you can fill with vintage eye candy?
Happy WW!
Sandi,
ReplyDeleteOh, the painting of the entire dry sink made a HUGE difference in the softness of the piece! I adore your hydrangeas. I like to take a clue from the surroundings...like that gorgeous fabric on the chair. The softness of your palettes in your vignettes is what drew me to your blog. I'll be back to see your creative talents at work, dear!
Fondly,
Pat
I love the transformation, everything looks better painted white!
ReplyDeleteHugs~~~ Daphne
I like the idea of the wood. It would create a nice focal point. A small stack of vintage books, along with a candle would look great too.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! what a difference white paint makes! With your decorating style, I'm sure that dry sink will look wonderful, Sandi.

I love your mirrors- what a transformation! I think you need to send the wooden box to my house and just start over! LOL! Seriously, I love it and I know you will put just the right thing in your room! I do love the warmth of wood with white!
ReplyDeleteLooks so good...how about some candles...or a new lamp...I don;t know, you will figure it out and have fun doing it!!! x0x0x
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi,
ReplyDeleteI noticed right away that you painted the top of the dry sink white and I love it all!! I am glad you decided to paint it because I think it blends better now, but what do I know?? ha!! Happy decorating!!
Blessings~
What a difference the paint does, I love the other mirror too.... I would lay some type of throw on the top of the chair, maybe an old cotton table cloth folded.... Can't wait to see when it is totally finished.

Love the transformation! So fresh and shabby lovely. As for what to display on top, I love your idea of introducing something natural. I love the balance it creates with the white. Be sure to post photos once you've completed the prettiness! Much love, Lisa
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am partial to items
massed together.....
beauty in numbers : )
Maybe a bottle collection,
vintage alarm clocks or
stacks of books? I
know whatever you
choose, it will be a
perfect reflection of
YOU. {Especially with
two pretty mirrors!}
xx Suzanne
It looks beautiful! I'm sure what ever you display will be gorgeous.

Love the transformation. The mirrors look good together. If it were me, I'd put one big bouquet of flowers there in a vintage vase or pot. It would add a pop of color or you could go with white or creamy blooms. Even dried hydrangeas would work. Can't wait to see what you decide.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks gorgeous Sandi and wow, what a difference painting the top of the dry sink made!!! I love your mirrors and I don't think your chair looks bad at all...you should see the print on mine in my bedroom! I hide it with a vintage white blanket cuz it's sooooo 90's!
ReplyDeleteYou know me...I'd go with some vintage books:) BTW, I'm loving my little book The Silver Buckle!!!
I really like what you have done to the place, but you ask so here is my thought an old galvanized object of some kind w/ beige dried flowers. oh heck you are doing a great job what do I know.
ReplyDeleteLisa
it looks just great. I found a dry sink this weekend at an antique shop but it was too big for my apt. I love yours. And the paint makes a world of difference.

It looks really nice. Love the painted mirror AND that you painted the top of the dry sink. I like it a lot better. Can't wait to see it all accessorized. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteA coat of white paint always works wonders doesn't it!
ReplyDeleteHow about a collection of empty frames grouped together on the dry sink with a few candles. I can never have too many candles in my house this time of the year.
It's kind of amazing what a difference that made, wow! I think someone suggested vintage books, and i kinda like that idea, stacked, in soft whites and tans and browns... would kind of mimic the colors in the little ADORABLE box with flowers you have.. maybe a lamp or a candle or something or another?? It's hard to tell without seeing the room as a whole.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great look now... !
Cindy
Project number 2!!! You are off to a rip roaring good start to 2012! Love the mirror and dry sink. I have one that I'm currently using as the baby's changing table, but I see what I can do with it when he gets a little older!
ReplyDeleteThis gorgeous.
Hugs,
Patti
WIW link is open, stop on by!
yes, don't you just sometimes wonder, why you did not do this in the first place. It looks absolutely right. And I think, natural objects are going to look lovely with it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another project finished. Wish I could get started !!!
But my computer is working...for right now. I don't want to hex it!
Hugs, Evi
Natural elements would look great along with some dried hydrangeas to compliment the colors in your chair. I'm going to try Google Chrome!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, much better Sandi. You are at least staying busy. :):) Smiles, Susie(She Junks)
ReplyDeleteI am always amazed at the effect white paint has in transformation, it is so very stunning. Thanks for sharing. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
