stormy day makeover...

Back in May I shared my front entry way (and the story of where I met my husband!)...

It's a stormy day here in New England, a perfect day to stay home and get some projects done around the house.  In between coats of paint, I thought I would share my front entry's new look for the Fall season...

I warmed up the space by adding different textures, such as an old leather handled woven tote, my favorite soft plaid cashmere scarf and my comfy wellies (rain boots)...

For Fall, think about neutral earthy tones for the home.  The color palette compliments my newly painted walls as well as my framed print of an old Cape Cod map (you can create custom pictures in the wall art area of Shutterfly).
A great idea to expand this theme would be to add some photos of our trips to the Cape over the years alone and as a family with our children.

This space can easily be changed up as the holidays quickly approach by adding some fragrant sprigs of pines and berries, or even some mini wreaths hung by lush velvet ribbons.  The sweet chippy old benches are like shelves when stacked and could be a unique spot to tuck some brown paper packages tied up with string!

If you love vintage like I do, how pretty would an old wool plaid throw look hanging off one of the hooks!  This would make a great place to hang stockings too if one didn't have a mantel.

Everything, except my favorite scarf and my wellies, were purchased at the Wrentham Country Store in Wrentham Massachusetts, a fantastic vintage shop where I am a vendor.  Don't be afraid to hunt for similar treasures in your local vintage shop; some of your best finds may happen there!

I also bought this beautiful arrangement there too...

This beautiful floral arrangement in the basket on the door adds a subtle touch of color to the space that I love.  If you don't have a garden, you can recreate something like this from the floral section of any grocery store, or a lasting arrangement from a craft store like Michaels, or small vintage shops or fairs.

Thank you to my fellow Shop Girls for bringing in such wonderful treasures!

Hope the sun is shining where you are!
Thanks for stopping by!!

  4. Looking good! Our entryway's look almost the same. We both have just a little landing but I don't have a nice wall to decorate like you. One side is a door to the garage and the other is a small closet. I envy that wall of yours. LOL.

  6. This is so sweet. I love the touch the wellies and plaid scarf give the entry..it says "wet and wintry"!! Isn't that the truth!

We are in the mid fifties now but a warm up is expected this weekend so I hope to get the rest of my garden cleaned up. Happy, good weather to you, too, Sandi! :)

  10. Sandi I would love if you shared a bit of you cold weather, it's days like yours that I nest, I create, I cook and bake, and best of all I dream of more days like these.
I love the entry way, the darkend door speaks to me, wanting to add some blacks back into my decor.
I am looking forward to the approaching weather that soothes my spirit, and inspires creating pieces from the heart.

Do you just not love a great outcome to a space that you can enter or leave with a feeling of awwwh ! This is a space that meets up to greet you and your space of entering and exiting with all that will inspire.

    Beautiful job.
    Beautiful Inspiring days ahead.
