wandering and wondering...

With a light dusting of snow on the ground this morning my thoughts are wandering and now I am wondering if an old toboggan might look nice in front of my house...

Mary Ellen's display in the window of The Wrentham Country Store

I wish I had a big ol' porch along the front of my house and be able to dress it up like this!

I finally downloaded Picasa to my computer and have been playing around a bit with my photos (oh no, not another distraction!).
I would love any tips you have to share!

Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!

  7. Happy day! Oh, yes...the porch is devine. I've been hunting for a pair of vintage skis or snowshoes for my porch, too. I think it looks so inviting, friend. Much love, Lisa

  9. Ohhh, it all looks so cozy and inviting...
as far as Picassa, i use it to edit my photos, it's a fairly simple program, and seems ok... i am curious about photoshop, but imagine it would be so complicated, i'd die of old age before i learned how to actually use it!

  11. I have used picasa before and I really like how you can lighten up pictures and make them brighter. I don't use a flash when I take my pictures, so everything depends on natural light! Your photos look beautiful.

  12. Oh the things you can do with a porch. That is a very inviting winter display. I could curl up there right about now and go to sleep. I'm feeling so tired today. Hope you are having a good one. Tammy

  13. That's a cute idea but I'd be worried someone would steal it. I've heard of a couple of bloggers who've had vintage bicycles stolen off their porches:(

I tried Picasa when I first started blogging and it confused the heck out of me so now I use Picnik, I just find it easier to navigate.

    Send me some snow please!!!!!!!!!!

  14. that's exactly what I did. I put an old wooden sled on the front porch dressed up with some fresh greens and hung some old ice skates on it. I took down my wreath but put it right back up because everything looked so bare. :)

  15. I love a pretty porch too Sandi. I wish I would take more time in the Winter to make mine look pretty, but usually we have feet and feet of snow by now and I only have a pergola over it, so I don't bother.
You made me laugh in your last post with your little note to Jim at the end ;) I don't have that book, but it looks beautiful. I LOVE your cozy white slippers!
    hugs from here...
Just a note to say, I was just thinking about you a little while before your comment came in and I swear I could hear the Twilight Zone theme song playing when I saw my e-mail in box:)

  19. I'd love a little winter setting like that on our porch too. I should get off my lazy butt and do something with my ice skates and sled.
This picture has some great ideas, Sandi!
    Have a nice week.

  20. I wish I had a big porch too, especially a wrap-around...but I'd settle for anything other than the stoop that I have. My sister puts a tobogan out each winter. I think they're so charming. I say go for it. Stopping by to wish you a Happy New Year, Sandi!

  22. Oh - I love toboggans!!! My Mom doesn't have a big front porch so she ties hers to her front gate! It's ADORABLE!!!

They are hard to find in Texas though... I think it was 71 here on Friday. LOL!!! Winter, what?!

    LOVE your inspiration!!!

  23. I never seem to have enough energy to do my entry way winter decor as I would like - it may be because I hate the cold, so I tend to stay inside. Yours looks lovely, Sandi!
