Santa was very good to my family (including me!). While I planned to just relax on Sunday anyway, the uninvited Nor'easter blew in and made doing nothing that much cozier. I lit the fire...
And curled up with my new Nook. It is like the Kindle but it is from Barnes and Noble. I have not learned all the bells and whistles yet but I think the Nook (which is in color) allows you to lend a friend with a Nook a book from your library. I have downloaded a few free previews but I would love to hear what book you recommend!! Anyway, by Monday afternoon the storm had passed and I did a lot of looking out my window to the winter wonderland (perfect for White Wednesday over at Faded Charm)...
The wind was wild during the storm and I love how it "painted" the house across the street...
I have been slowly putting away my Christmas decorations. It takes a while because I have to clean each room as I take away all things merry and bright. Then of course the re-arranging begins. New vignettes are born and projects are added to the winter list. Having something to look forward to and keep me busy over the long New England winter makes me happy!
Winter afternoons and weekends used to be very busy around here. We have a little hill in the backyard that my kids and their friends would sled on. Now it sits quietly, patiently waiting for one of the neighbor's visiting grandchildren...
I have already made a few changes around my nest which I will start to share with you in the new year. Would you like a little hint...
I had made some new signs for my booth after it's makeover (and put some in my Etsy shop) so I decided to use one in my kitchen. As I begin to re-feather my nest I find myself not only changing vignettes but taking things away and simplifying. The pinks and roses are slowly disappearing (look for them at The Wrentham Country Store or in my Etsy shop). I am going to try and bring a bit of farm house charm and mix it in my french cottage home.
As I was putting away my decorations I came across this sweet ornament I do not think I showed you...
I thought it captured the moment I feel I am in right now. Enjoying the view and nesting in a winter wonderland...Thank you for visiting on this last White Wednesday of 2010. It was on a White Wednesday back in February when I started my little blog adventure. A big thank you from my heart to Kathleen. Faded Charm was THE place to be on Wednesdays and I am so happy I joined in on all the fun!!
Hi Sandi! Love the chalkboard frame! And your nest sign is too cute! It's funny, I'm adding some pink and you're taking it away!! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy decor is ever-changing, like yours!!
Have fun in your cozy home surrounded by snow!!
Wow, that's alot of snow! How pretty, and sounds like a good time to curl up with a cup of hot cocoa! I love your glittered bird ornament! And I never knew you had an Etsy shop, I am going to check it out right now, love your signs!!
ReplyDeleteNesting is definitely the best thing to do when its white and chilly outside. Actually, home is my favorite place to me. All of my friends know it takes a lot to get me out and about. :) Best wishes to you, Tammy
ReplyDeleteall so lovely sandi. i'm sure the nook got a workout after that blizzard we got! Still digging out....
ReplyDeleteHappy whitest of wednesdays!
That was a wonderful post Sandi, you made everything sound so cozy and snuggly! I've heard about the Nook, I think Oprah gave them away on her favorite things show. Have you read Sarah's Key? If not, I recommend it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do need to update my profile. I keep thinking of it but my baby just turned 17 and the other 2 are Jan./Feb birthdays so I was thinking I should wait so I could change their ages when I re-do it:) Stay warm my friend!
Love that little nest sign. I have had my eye on a nook or kindle, but rarely have time to read, but enjoy it so, maybe that would make me find the time! Glad you had a Merry Christmas. Can't wait to see what changes you have made.
ReplyDeletenice post Sandi I will miss the last white Wednesday! but enjoying yours Gianna had a sleep over last night with her friends and with the storm jay's crazy hours so not much sleep! thought I would get it in but not!!

Hi Sandi! You are so ambitious~ I haven't even thought of taking down Christmas, never mind doing it:)
ReplyDeleteThe snow is pretty isn't it? We got about 10 inches but now I'm tired of it.
I've been pondering and doing some looking for your new sign but nothing 'concrete' to share with you yet...soon:)
Happy New Year!!
Sandi- I love coming here to visit. Everything looks so lovely and I can't wait to see what you are coming with in the new year! hugs-Diana
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi ~ beautiful snowy pictures! I just got a look at the last two posts you put out, and your tree looked absolutely beautiful! I love all of your ornaments... so charming! Your home looked really beautiful all decked out for the holidays!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you got what you wanted from Santa this year. Enjoy that Nook and have a happy New Year!! :)
Hi Sandi ~ I'm still trying to take down after the put up! LOVE the chalkboard frame. Time for a blanket and some hot chocolate ;)
ReplyDeleteSandi- I wrote a comment before and now I am thinking I clicked off before I verified the thing!:( If there is another post from me you can delete this one.
ReplyDeleteAnyway...I love this post..I love coming here to visit-..well, heck..I love you too! You are such a source of inspiration and I never know what I will find when I visit.
I see you got the Nook. I like to read just about anything-except those romance novels (think Harlequin romance-sorry-no offense meant to anyone that likes them...just not my thing). Did you happen to read The Help? It is set in the South and told through the eyes of maids that work for wealthy women. It takes a bit to adjust to the lingo but it is a fascinating book...funny..sad..introspective. Everyone I know that has read it-loves it.
I haven't started putting Christmas away yet..I still have one more after-Christmas dinner party to host...or would that be hostess? lol..no matter..it's fun/work either way.
Thank you for all your lovely White Wednesday posts. I always look forward to them..AND I am looking forward to seeing what you are up to in the new year. Hugs- Diana
Thanks for sharing all the lovely whites, Sandi! Your neighborhood looks like mine. What a doozy snowstorm! I'm excited to see all your new home decor changes in 2011. Isn't it fun to start fresh and re-arrange?
ReplyDelete- Susan
I am slowly taking down, cleaning and rearranging also. We got slammed with snow too- which is weird for NC. Enjoy your season and I will look forward to all the changes you have to make.
ReplyDeletetammy
Wow girl you did get some snow! We really haven't had that much here in Michigan and that is OKAY with me. LOL I like about an inch or two and that is it, but I know we will get more. Stay cozy!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings now and in the New Year!!
Hugs~

Thanks for dropping by and leaving such a nice comment. The glittered bird ornament is so cool! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteOh I envy you all that snow! It's freezing cold here and there's no snow. I guess it's better tan the rain, but not as beautiful as the snow. I always like to get in and clean when the decorations come down too and rearranging is one of my favorite things! Stay warm and enjoy your book!
